Hi everyone! I’m the developer of Brew Finder.
As a Mac user, I enjoy using Homebrew to manage my apps and packages. Whenever possible, I prefer installing software through Homebrew. However, when visiting an app’s website, it is not always obvious that the app is already available through Homebrew’s official repositories.
That is why I created Brew Finder.
Brew Finder uses official Homebrew package data and matches packages with their corresponding websites. It also includes dedicated support for GitHub repositories. When you visit an app’s website or GitHub page, Brew Finder lets you know whether an official Homebrew formula or cask is available—even when the website itself does not mention it.
I have been using Brew Finder myself for a while, and it still surprises me from time to time: “I didn’t know this was available through Homebrew too!”
I hope you find it just as useful and enjoyable.
If you encounter any issues or have suggestions, please feel free to share them on GitHub issues.

Love how lightweight this feels, no extra clutter. One thing that would make it even better: a small badge on the extension icon showing how many matches are on the current page, so I can quickly tell if the site has a brew without opening the popup.

@tarkb3lu Yes, the extension can already do exactly that. For example, when I visit Fork’s official website, the extension badge shows “2,” indicating that there are two installable Homebrew packages associated with the current site.

Love how quietly it does its thing in the background, no popups or noise while you browse. The privacy-first angle is a really thoughtful touch too.

@bilalstnteuv6m Yes, this extension does not read or send any data over the internet. All package information is optimized and bundled directly into the extension.
