Why does destroying something useless for €1 feel wrong, but buying something useless for €1 feels normal?

Genuine question, I have been chewing on it for a while. I ended up building a machine around it: you pay €1 and it destroys a plaster cast of everyday packaging, live, and it loses money on purpose. It launches here Thursday. But mostly I am curious how this crowd answers the question. Where is the line between waste and consumption, and why is only one of them respectable?
