Building a UK public-sector job board mapped to your postcode — feedback wanted before Aug 25 launch

I'm building boroughjobs.co.uk — a job board focused entirely on UK public-sector roles (NHS, local councils, civil service) that's mapped visually to where you actually live, not just a filtered list.

The idea started from a simple frustration: job boards like Indeed and Totaljobs treat "location" as a text filter, but when you're looking for a council or NHS role, what you actually care about is "what's realistically commutable from here" — and none of the big boards show that well. So boroughjobs opens on a full-screen, dark interactive map of the UK. Click a borough and it flies in, showing every live public-sector role there — and each job now shows the nearest train/tube/bus station and how far it actually is, straight-line, no guessing.

It's not trying to compete head-on with the big aggregators on breadth — that's a losing fight. The bet is that public-sector hiring specifically (NHS + ~380 councils + civil service, unified in one place) is a niche the giants structurally ignore, and that hyperlocal, map-first browsing is genuinely more useful than another keyword search box for this specific use case.
Currently live with ~19,750 real roles, refreshed daily.

Launching properly on Aug 25, but I'd love early thoughts before then:

• If you've ever job-hunted for an NHS or council role, what made that search painful?

• Does "map-first" browsing actually appeal to you, or do you just want a fast keyword search and don't care about the map?

• Anything about the commute/transit info that would make it more useful (e.g. actual journey time vs. straight-line distance)?

Genuinely open to being told the map-first idea is wrong — happy to hear it either way.
