What makes you trust a financial app enough to connect your bank account?

by

I’m building a personal-finance product, and one of the biggest things I’ve been thinking about is the trust gap between:

“This looks useful”

and

“I’m comfortable connecting my financial accounts.”

For me, clear security explanations, transparent pricing, and knowing exactly how my data will be used all matter. But I’m curious what makes the biggest difference for other people.

Is it:

  • Seeing reviews from real users?

  • Understanding the account-connection provider?

  • Trying the product before connecting anything?

  • Knowing the company or founder behind it?

  • A clear privacy and data-deletion policy?

  • Something else entirely?

What would make you comfortable or immediately make you leave?
