I'm kind of disappointed by the pricing strategy. Makes it look like the product is free, but only for 5 days actually.

@mauriz Hello Maurice. We want people to experience it first before committing to a purchase. If we make it a paid app from the outset, it prevents those who are really interested in the app from enjoying it :)

@mauriz Until demos are available in the App Store this feels like a pretty fair way of doing things.

Boom for Mac is a must-download. Curious if it has the same "wow" effect on iOS. Will try it out.

@rrhoover Thanks Ryan! We think it has the same "wow" effect because we are bringing 5.1 virtual surround sound experience on any headphones! Try it and you'll like it :)

This is amazing. @rohithbhat - can you share more about how this app works? In particular, is this filtering or is more going on? Also: would it be possible to add support for Music, Deezer and Spotify? That would be epic.
Rohith Bhat
@grooveplex App does DSP on the input audio to create spatial effect along with equalizer to render magical output. It is possible to support Music, Deezer and Spotify provided we get access to their streams; something we need to convince them on..

@rohithbhat Where do I sign the petition?

I have this on my mac. It's gold. But on my iPhone, most of my my songs aren't local to my device. They're in spotify. But playing with my local files, this is pretty good. It's just like my desktop Boom. The surround sound is my favorite feature. But I'm pretty happy with Spotify's equalizer for my music commute. I do most listening on my computer and I have boom there.

@stephenmarklevi We're looking to add Spotify integration soon. Do follow us on Twitter (@boomapp) to be updated.

Oh boy, I've been betatesting this thing for some time now, and it's probably the coolest sound-upgrade your iPhone /iPad can get. Songs sound gorgeous. Your music library will turn into a feast for your ears. And it looks great too!

Not so sure about this practise. If you turn the "boom effect" off it clearly degrades the sound quality so it sounds much better with the equalizer turned on — think this is cheating. Try it out yourself, open the stock music app and play a song than switch to boom and play the same song with 3d surround and equalizer off and it clarly sounds duller and less crisp. So the real differenz between boom and stock music app is much smaller — really bass heavy which is not always better. Plus I've listened for 30min with the boom player and I think it's really exhausting for your ears. JM2C

@jonas_petermann Hello Jonas. Boom doesn't alter anything and plays only as provided for by Apple's API. When 3D Surround Sound, Equaliser and Intensity is off, the app plays a music file with a flat effect (as is) and that’s why it appears as if the sound quality is degraded. We have provided an intensity slider to adjust the intensity of the audio effect and if you feel bass is too high, you can reduce the intensity. Some of the compressed music files (mp3) have low bass/treble where the intensity can be kept high to enjoy the music. And those users who enjoy heavy bass/treble music may keep the intensity high which isn’t possible using stock app.

@gpkamath @jonas_petermann I do enjoy the 3D sound and enhancements that Boom offers, but I have to agree with Jonas regarding the sound quality of tracks without the Boom effects. They sound worse than their default original state when compared with other media players playing the same file in their original state. Still, worth a purchase all the same for the enhancements. Hopefully it'll work with Spotify and G Play Music soon.

Would kill for this to work on Spotify for iPhone.

I guess this can't work with Apple Music. @gpkamath will this work if the rumoured Apple Music API does appear with iOS 10?
Guruprasad Kamath
@ichillidesign Hello Craig. Our devs are looking into it. We hope to bring it out in the near future.

@gpkamath @ichillidesign Seems a bit odd to me to show all Apple Music items then pop-up that the effects don't work with Apple Music items. Way to show just music it works with as a toggle?

Absolutely adore Boom on Mac. Can't wait to give this a try.
