Hey Product Hunt 👋 Quick honest story behind BitePlanAI. Every Sunday for years, my fridge-staring routine looked like this: Open fridge Pull up six recipe tabs in another room Pick none of them Order takeout Feel mildly bad about it Existing meal planners weren't the answer — they're either rigid templates ("here's your week of chicken and broccoli"), or massive recipe databases that put the cognitive load back on me ("here are 47,000 recipes, you decide"). What I actually wanted was a friend who happened to be a chef, who'd ask me a few questions about my week and then just tell me what to cook. So I built it. BitePlanAI is a conversation, not a database: You chat about your week ("busy Tue/Wed, want something I can batch Sunday, no shellfish, getting bored of chicken") It gives you a full weekly meal plan Tap any meal for the recipe The grocery list builds itself, grouped by aisle A few build notes for anyone curious: React Native + TypeScript on the front, Firebase + OpenAI on the back The chat uses OpenAI's Assistants API for thread memory; recipe stories use gpt-4o-mini for speed and cost All AI calls route through a Cloud Function proxy so my OpenAI key never touches the device I'm not a full-time founder — this got built in evenings and weekends over four months What I'd love from this community: Try the free trial and tell me where the AI feels dumb Tell me if the conversation actually feels like talking to a chef, or like talking to a form Roast anything — the onboarding, the paywall, the recipes, the grocery aisles I'll be in the comments all day. Genuinely want honest feedback more than upvotes. Thanks for taking a look 🙏
