Cons:

Only for Mac and few language.

This would be cool as a Chrome extension. A new word for every new tab. I'm sure that already exists.

I love this concept @bramfritz @thom_hos! However, I find it difficult to remember a word if I only see/use it for one day. Would be interesting to have a review feature in the tool bar/something of the like.
Bram Fritz
@lamaalrajih Good point. Thanks for the feedback. Definitely a concept we want to release in the future.
Lama Al Rajih
@bramfritz Thanks! How are you determining which words to display?
Bram Fritz
@lamaalrajih Right now it's random, but we're looking at ways to create some smartness.

Cool idea! Just a suggestion, write on the details that it shows Simplified Characters for Mandarin. As a person who is learning Mandarin in Taiwan with Traditional Characters, me and my friends always face this when looking for apps or websites. Hope there's a version that has Traditional Characters in the future :)
Bram Fritz
@vrsanchezj 好的! I will edit the details and see if we can add the traditional characters in the future.

Thanks for hunting @bramfritz - I love the idea behind this tool and I'm sure lots of people have learning a new language as one of their new year's resolutions; was this something which you wanted achieve, too? Which language are you learning or improving with Backwords?
Bram Fritz
@abadesi Thanks for your comment! I'm learning Mandarin with Backwords. At some point I had too many characters to remember, so I thought what if I just learn one every day :). Me and my friend started building the product.

Super clever. Would love to see this in more languages.

What a great way to repurpose dead space 😃

Hey @bramfritz, imho this works best as a tool to supplement your learning. As a new user, dropping me into the middle of a foreign language is not a good idea.
Bram Fritz
@kenneth That is true. We could think about skill levels + a smooth onboarding to test the level of the user. Thanks for your comment.

Could this be made into a screensaver as well?

@mtgpix Noted 👍
