ARDAR - AR Flight Tracker - Turn the sky into a live flight tracker.

Offically launching ARDAR!
ARDAR is an AR flight radar and plane spotting app that places nearby aircraft directly over your camera view, so you can point your iPhone at the sky and see what is flying above you. Built for every plane spotter, aviation fan, traveler, and curious sky watcher, ARDAR makes air traffic feel visible, immediate, and real.
I first built this just for myself but after a few weeks of using it all the time, I thought its too good for just me, so I built it for everyone!

A few weeks ago I came across Skylight, a really cool project that uses a projector to turn your ceiling into an aircraft radar. I thought it was awesome, and I also thought why not do something like this, but with AR. (I didn't have a projector to try Skylight lol). So I did. I built a proof of concept iOS app that day and immediately loved it. Over the next couple of weeks it became something of a passion project for me I was always using it and seeing what planes were flying over me. I saw so many cool and interesting aircraft, I saw A380s and 747s, celebrity planes, like Travis Scott's private jet. I even saw the Sec of State flying over my house one night after the first World Cup match.
So after being obsessed with it for a few weeks, I thought this is too good to just keep for me. So I started a new production project and started building it for thee. And now we have ARDAR. It's completely free with no ads rn and I hope you enjoy using it to look at what's in the sky as much as I do :)
Took it out at the park and pointing it at the sky actually showed a 737 climbing out of the airport nearby, which was a really fun moment. The labels stayed locked in place as I moved around, which surprised me for a first version.
Love that the AR overlay matches the actual sky orientation, makes it feel like the data belongs there instead of just slapped on. And nice move shipping it after using it yourself first, that usually shows in the details.
