One of the reasons I got rid of my Echo was because I found myself needing it in rooms other than where it was. This would solve that problem.

I've been waiting for something like this for a while. Even something as simple as my kitchen, where I have a iPod speaker, will be greatly value added with this. I'm a huge fan of my Echo, so this is very exciting news.
This is a nice addition to the echo ecosystem. I've been unplugging mine and taking it with me around the house as my day changes. Alexa is useful in the kitchen, but also in the lounge. I'm excited to see how this Voice Interface develops - she's still missing the personality that will come with a more conversational interface.
An Echo is required to order this--but why would an Echo owner even need a Dot, unless simply trying to cover more rooms?

@erlerks The product is designed for people with a connected home in order to use Alexa in many rooms. Also, it allows a Sonos like system of whole-home audio.
I can't get dressed in the morning w/o consulting Alexa. For real. Here in Cincy it could be 65 and sunny or it could be 20 and miserable. Nice to be able to stick the Dot in a bed room.
Agree on the commentary re: Sonos. Love my Sonos (wish I had more) but I also wish they'd take some cues from Amazon re: the roll out, DLC and functionality of the Echo.

Any word on whether or not there is a sleep timer?
