I have an old DropCam, so this is interesting for someone looking to upgrade.
One word. Jesus.
Quite a controversial product going back to question of how much trust do we have in these companies and what happens if something goes wrong. I have a porch at my house so I could see myself installing such a lock on those doors if Amazon decides to expand this into the UK, but I don't think I'd want one in my actual front doors. Definitely an interesting and unique idea though, I wonder how well they can reassure customers that this is something they'd want to invest in.
Very clever idea!
This is an interesting move Like that amazon may have its own smart home devices but I still won't trust real world physical access to any IOT devices I have a ring and like to be able to ask delivery person to leave parcel in specific place or with neighbour, plus get video proof a delivery was actually attempted as in the past many delivery companies have said they tried to deliver when I'm 99% sure they didn't or must have tried the wrong address! Looking forward to getting an Amazon Show for Ring integration What I'd be more interested in is a secure reasonable (average parcel) size secure box to mount to outside of home (I know that wouldn't suit everyone)
So now Amazon wants access to my house. What could go wrong?
This is controversial. First of all, you can see the guy who brings the package, so if he does something illegal, you will know, but you can't prevent the robbery. The fact that your cameras are turned on doesn't mean your house is safe. On the other hand, letting your package stay outside the house is also unsafe, but at least you risk only your package, not your whole house! The idea is good, but still needs some development. I always trust amazon, hope they know what they are doing.
Great idea but in reality, I trust delivery companies way less than I do Amazon. No way would I let any courier company in the UK enter my home, they barely remember to shut the garden gate behind them.
What🤷🏼‍♂️. I'll wait for version 2.
I'm too paranoid as an individual for this
