Hey everyone! I'm Ackshaya, the founder of Alma. I built Alma because I lived this problem. I came to the US from India for grad school with zero connections. No one to ask about which school to pick, how internships work here, or how to navigate any of it. I sent dozens of LinkedIn messages to professionals hoping for advice. Almost none got a reply. The problem wasn't effort. It was that there was nothing connecting me to those people. No shared context, no reason for them to care about a message from a stranger. That experience stuck with me. When I started building software (I'm a mechanical engineer who taught herself to code from scratch), this was the first real problem I wanted to solve. Alma matches students to mentors who share their school, background, and interests, then writes a warm intro explaining why they should connect. Mentors don't get spammed with random requests. They only see people from their tribe. That's why they say yes. The approach evolved a lot during the build. I started thinking Alma was about better outreach messaging. But through building and testing, I realized the real value is in the matching. Finding the right person matters way more than writing the perfect message. So I rebuilt the core around tribe-based matching first, intros second. The whole thing is live at joinalma.ai. Would love for you to try it and tell me what you think!
