Hey there! 👋 I’m excited to introduce Airbounce for Mac – a magic button for easier calls (currently for Zoom). I originally built this for myself but soon realized many people struggle with muting/unmuting during meetings, especially on modern Macs and Zoom. During the pandemic, this issue became even more apparent, and I wanted to create a better solution. This is the designer in me talking—I can’t stand subpar interactions, especially when they’re frequently painful. At first, I designed and built a physical button prototype, but due to patent restrictions, I discontinued it (another story). On a software level, I knew I couldn’t improve much, since the real problem is that the mute status isn’t visible in the physical world to the user or their surroundings (like when working from home). Luckily, I later had an intriguing idea to explore: there's a button that can solve this problem — Caps Lock, everyone already has it and it has a green light indicator. No hardware needs to be bought or shipped (which I liked even more). Plus, the Caps Lock key is kind of a relic, and today there are better ways to emphasize text using modern styles. Along the way, I identified more pain points, like how joining or leaving calls often takes too many clicks or how frustrating it is to leave a meeting, often accidentally ending the call for everyone else! 😅 👉 Now, I’m making Airbounce available to everyone. ✨ Key Features: • View your daily schedule • Join calls instantly • Mute/unmute easily from any Mac space • Visual indicators: LED – the green light on Caps Lock, menu bar mic status, on-screen display, and even Apple Shortcut integration with HomeKit-enabled smart lights; project mic status (e.g., red/green) behind your screen—acting like an "on-air" indicator so others in your home know when it’s okay to talk! This last indicator is experimental. 👩🏻‍💻 Who’s it for? • macOS users in frequent Zoom meetings looking for a simpler workflow • Home office users who want to improve their remote working environment with their roommates or family 🎁 Enjoy a 7-day trial, and support me if you find it valuable. Enjoy a 40% discount "E1NJKWNQ" till the end of September 2024, and a 30-day money-back guarantee, no questions asked. 💡 I’d love to hear your thoughts, feedback, and ideas! Thanks for your support! 💚

@tomas_kupka This looks interesting, is it only for Zoom? I was a power-user of Zoom but only using Gmeet for the last 8 months
Tomas Kupka
@prad_vv Hi Pradhumn, Right now, Airbounce is designed for Zoom, but I’m exploring support for other tools like Google Meet. If you drop your contact info and a brief note below, I’ll let you know once I start working on Google Meet support! 😊 https://forms.gle/nJw7w1Ar2Sk3UUC6A Thanks!

@owenfar Hey Owen! Thanks for the congrats! 😊 It was indeed a breakthrough to solve this without extra hardware, using the only key that’s often overlooked and has the indicator. I appreciate the support!

Hi @tomas_kupka Thank you for sharing the launch of Airbounce for Mac! It’s such a smart solution to streamline Zoom calls, and I love how you’ve repurposed the Caps Lock key for this. The visual indicators are a game-changer for remote work! If there’s anything I can assist with or if you'd like to explore any collaboration opportunities, feel free to connect. Wishing you great success with Airbounce!

💡 Bright idea
The lightning scene integration looks awesome! Similar to how live tv studios has a red lamp that says OnAir.
Tomas Kupka
@sentry_co Hey André, Yes! That’s the idea. It should be possible with HomeKit-enabled LED lights like Philips Hue, IKEA lights, etc. Let me know when you’re ready to set it up. I’m about to publish documentation soon, and this part might need some guidance, but it’s super easy to set up.
André J
@tomas_kupka I actually rigged up Siri on my HomePod mini to change scenes for zoom calls. Go to zoom call mode etc. Fun fact my apt is rigged with Ikea and Hue lights. like 30ish. Feedback: I think Just doing green for your unmuted and red for muted could work.
Tomas Kupka
@sentry_co Nice! thanks for sharing, did not know about this option. Yes, these colors works the best.

Really like the tool, navigation reminds me of raycast, which is cool!
Tomas Kupka
@ivan_gulla Hey Ivan! Thanks! 😊 I’m glad you like it. That’s a great comparison—Raycast has a fantastic design!
Ivan Gulla
@tomas_kupka would you mind to connect on X?
Martin K.
Absolutely phenomenal work, bro! Huge congratulations! 👏 The way you approached such a common task with elegancy and intelligence while keeping it minimalistic is just brilliant. I am looking forward to see the function on google meet too! I see a huge potential here.
Tomas Kupka
@martin_kupka Hey bro! Thanks so much! 💪 I really appreciate it. I know you mentioned Google Meet before, and it’s definitely on my radar. A lot of people are asking for it today. Stay tuned!

Like Raycast for Zoom — interesting! @tomas_kupka I might suggest using Keystroke Pro 2 or Keycastr to show your keyboard shortcuts on screen in your video.
Tomas Kupka
Thanks, Chris! Love the Raycast comparison—hadn't thought about it that way. 🔥 I’ll definitely check out those tools. I had to improvise last minute as Screen Studio is a great tool but couldn’t recognize Caps Lock or Enter (hope the feedback reach them this way). No blame there, just a learning moment. 😊 The next video will definitely be on another level!
fberrez
Hi @tomas_kupka! Quick question, do you plan to have the same thing for google meet? 😬
Tomas Kupka
Hey @fberrez, Thanks for raising this. I’m considering Google Meet, but it’s a bit tricky since it’s a browser app. If you drop your contact info and a brief note, I’ll reach out once I start working on it! ✨ https://forms.gle/nJw7w1Ar2Sk3UUC6A
fberrez
@tomas_kupka ah yes would be trickier you’re right, unless you develop a browser extension maybe
AnnaHo
This tool is an amazing productivity booster for Zoom meetings, especially with its seamless mute/unmute features! I'm curious—will future updates allow integration with other video conferencing platforms to expand its utility beyond Zoom?
Tomas Kupka
@annaho2000 Hey AnnaHo! Thanks! I’m glad you find it useful. 💚 I’m definitely considering other tools in future updates, as Airbounce is ready for it. Could you share which tools you’d like to see supported?
Kyrylo Silin
Hey Tomas, I like the idea of repurposing the Caps Lock key. Have you considered expanding beyond Zoom to other popular video conferencing platforms? For users who rely on Caps Lock for keyboard layout reasons, is there an alternative key option available? Congrats on the launch!
Tomas Kupka
@kyrylosilin Hey Kyrylo! Thanks! I’m considering supporting other platforms too, but with some of them it is trickier, I like that challenge of figuring It out. What tool do you use the most right now? About Caps Lock, I’m curious when and why you use it. I’m considering a fix where Caps Lock remains as is when not on a call (user settings), or adding an alternative shortcut as you mention is a great idea too. I’ll note this down! Appreciate the support! 🎉 I’ll keep you updated.
Kyrylo Silin
@tomas_kupka I change my keyboard layout by pressing caps lock (so that I can type in different languages).
Asher Dorian Thorne
Sounds like a super handy tool! Just checked out the features and it looks promising for anyone stuck in endless Zoom calls on a Mac. Love the idea of using the Caps Lock for visual feedback—clever!Congrats on the launch,Tomas.
Tomas Kupka
@asherdorianthorne Hey Asher! Thanks a lot! 😊 I’m glad you find it useful. I appreciate the support! If you have any feedback or questions, feel free to reach out.
Allen
Congratulations on launching this amazing tool! I'm really intrigued by the idea of simplifying Zoom meetings with just one magic button. It sounds like a game changer for productivity and eliminating those awkward “You’re on mute” moments. I'm curious about how the feature that indicates whether you're muted or unmuted works. Will it provide visual or audio cues? Additionally, have you considered integrating this with other video conferencing platforms in the future? Overall, this product has a lot of potential, and I'm excited to see how it evolves. Keep up the great work!
Tomas Kupka
@allen_xu1130 Hi Allen, Thanks so much for your feedback. Airbounce uses the macOS accessibility API to find the Zoom meeting window and link the Caps Lock key to the mute/unmute buttons (with 2-way mic status sync) and the leave meeting button. Figuring this out was challenging since the API isn’t documented, but it works great afterall. Regarding other tools: I’m considering them and already have a working prototype for Microsoft Teams. I postponed the release due to inconsistent behavior (it works well, and sometimes it does not)—waiting for support from Apple’s dev team). The issue might be due to Teams being built in Electron, which may not fully support the accessibility API. I'm still exploring this, though there’s interest from users. Happy to share this version if you'd like to test it out! Alternatives like Google Meet are also on the radar, but integrating with it is trickier since it runs in a browser. I’m also considering muting/unmuting system audio. While it’s easy to implement, it can lead to confusing double mute statuses (system vs. app), which affects UX, and makes things worse. Audio cues are a good idea. For now, they come built-in with Apple AirPods, which automatically provide these sounds. Thanks again!
