I think AI search is creating a completely different visibility game
by•
Over the last few months, I kept noticing something strange:
Some brands ranking extremely well on Google barely appeared inside ChatGPT, Perplexity, and other AI-generated answers.
Meanwhile, smaller companies with clearer positioning and stronger ecosystem presence kept showing up repeatedly.
That rabbit hole eventually became this checklist.
Curious if others here are noticing the same shift:
Are AI systems rewarding a different type of authority than traditional search engines?

Honestly, I think we’re still massively underestimating how much AI interfaces will reshape online discovery.
For years, the internet optimized around:
“Which page ranks first?”
Now we’re moving toward:
“Which brand does the AI trust enough to recommend?”
That feels like a completely different model to me.
The weirdest part is seeing companies with incredible "traditional SEO" barely show up in AI-generated answers, while smaller brands with stronger contextual presence keep appearing everywhere.
Feels like we’re watching the early formation of a new authority layer on the internet in real time.
