Building this was a real eye-opener.

We spoke to hundreds of recruiters, and the message was loud and clear: formatting resumes takes forever; cleaning them up, writing summaries, and making them client-ready eats up hours that could be spent actually placing candidates.

So we built an AI tool that does it instantly, automatically formats resumes, generates candidate summaries, and shares them in a branded portal that clients actually want to use.

Hi hunters 👋 I’m Ben, Head of Product at Candidately.

We sat behind hundreds of recruiter screens and spotted the same ritual: download resume ➜ fight with formatting ➜ write a note ➜ pray the client reads it. We decided to compress that ritual to the length of a sip of coffee.

How we pulled it off

1. Custom-prompt AI parsing fetches anything—from “SAP S/4HANA roll-outs in manufacturing” to “10-second elevator summary.”

2. OCR on images & scans that de-noises JPEGs & scans, then feeds them back to the parser—no more “Can you resend as a Word doc?” emails.

3. Recruiter-voice notes: give the builder a line of your tone guidelines and every summary sounds like you wrote it.

4. Time savings: teams report cutting resume prep by ~4 hours per desk weekly—clients see candidates faster, placements close sooner.

Fun lesson building this: great AI feels invisible. When users forget it’s AI and just work—that’s the sweet spot.

This is helpful for those that have trouble crafting their perfect resume. Does this make recommendation on which template or style to use given the context of the position or role they are interviewing for? For instance companies hiring for a designer may like a more stylish resume template with some pop and color but for instance an Engineering role they just want a plain white sheet and nothing fancy just give me your experience and skills. Believe it or not sometimes these simple styling changes can determine whether you get your resume looks at in the first place.
