Building a Privacy Toolkit for Everyday Users. What Would You Actually Use?

by

Hi everyone,

I’m working on a small project called 404Found Privacy Toolkit. The idea is to create very simple tools that help people quickly understand whether something online is safe or not, without needing technical knowledge.

Right now I’m exploring a few directions:

  • checking whether a phone number has been reported as a scam

  • analyzing suspicious messages or emails

  • quick link safety checks

  • temporary email for signups

Before going too far, I’d like to make sure this solves real problems.

A few questions I’d really appreciate input on:

  • What kind of online risk do you personally run into most often?

  • Would you use something that lets you paste a message or number and get an immediate risk assessment?

  • What would make you trust a tool like this?

I’m trying to keep things practical and focused, rather than building a large feature set that no one ends up using.

Thanks in advance for any feedback.
