Would you let a robot in your home or not? 🤖
by•
ICYMI: 1x launched the NEO Gamma, a new generation of humanoid robots that are designed to help out with things at the home like doing the laundry, cleaning, putting up photos, etc. This is the kind of stuff I used to dream about as a kid but now as an adult I'm not sure if I want a robot walking around my house. Would you let one in and what do you think about home robots? Think they have a future or is it going to be a hype train before fizzling out?

I don’t think people will be comfortable bringing them home permanently, at least for now. We want to get acquainted with them outdoors—at gas stations, restaurants, parks, in traffic, etc. Over time, we may build trust in these.
Oh, the NEO Gamma sounds like something straight out of a sci-fi movie! I remember dreaming about robots like Rosie from The Jetsons handling all the chores while I kicked back, but now that it’s becoming a reality, it’s definitely a mixed bag of excitement and hesitation.
For me, the idea of a humanoid robot walking around my house is equal parts cool and unsettling. On one hand, having help with laundry, cleaning, or even hanging up photos (which I always procrastinate on) sounds like a game-changer.
Recap
I think renting a related robot for a specific need at a fixed time is a more reliable approach. For example, in scenarios like helping the elderly with bathing or cooking.
Yes, it's a process, but definitely the future.

@zhiqi_shi That's my thinking as well, especially when it comes to helping the elderly
I’m not sure I want a robot casually strolling around my house just yet. Maybe when they already look like humans!? 😅
Robot would take one look at my place and run
Even having a roomba would cause me an existential dread. Also, there's limited amount of real-estate available in most of the developed world, where would I put my "make the bedsheets robot" when it takes me 20 seconds to do so?
These robots may be useful in some high tech pension homes, but even then senior citizens require much more than just someone cleaning their room, which the robots can't yet provide.
I'd like to think that's a good idea, but I feel like they're going to be so expensive that I'll never have one- maybe my kids will... I'd def love having someone around the house to talk to besides myself! lol
Was it your video recently with the robots putting away groceries?
