I don't know what this is, but two random people sent me requests on LinkedIn and spammed me the link to this 👎

both accounts seem fake and belong to some random VC which does not even have a website.

now a third one

Sorry if we passed on your application for funding! A lot of the time it is not a no it is a not yet but we encourage you to reapply as you make progress

 is this a bot reply?

I loved this when I was testing. Definitely a tool I can share with founders I know!

Glad you enjoyed it! Feel free to share and let us know if there is anything we can do to help!

Congrats on shipping! Thx for creating resources to help founders :)

Thank you! Goal is always to help founders on the long and difficult journey and if we can build something that supports that you know we will!

no more guesswork! that's the goal. starting a business is already so difficult, know what matter doesn't have to.

Such a great tool. The feedback was great!

Thanks Rob! Glad it was helpful!

Thanks, Rob. Anything in particular stood out for you?

Anything that will help us put our best foot forward when working to secure funding is deply appreciated. Having access to a tool built by investors to help identify where a deck needs improvement is invaluable.

Thanks Lydia! Our goal is always how to help the ecosystem and the founders within!

🙏 thank you so much for you message Lydia. When we started 1752vc we knew we wanted to give founders all around access to the same resources that makes Silicon Valley great. This is one of them!

<sigh>

I guess I'll be that guy. Folks, here are some rules you might want to consider.

  • It's five core slides. 1) the problem 2) how big is it 3) the solution 4) how much do they pay 5) why you. Everything else builds upon 5 core points: problem/solution/how big/who pays/why you. Everything else builds on that.

Which means:

  • Don't pay for this stuff. I don't know what "five free deck reviews" means for this offer as it's not explained on their site, but like the nutty VC Boom stuff (look at the similar products ---->), this should not be your priority when it comes to spending money.

  • build the MVP instead of obsessing over slides. Get on LinkedIn, Reddit, FB, wherever, and get some customers to see if the dogs will eat it. The friction to build is very low and the long tail theory says find customers for your solution as that's the best validation possible. A "try it" email, trumps 5 or 50 slides every. single. day. No investor (ever) has tried a product, loved it, and then bailed because of a crappy slide deck.

VC firms, Angel Networks, Accelerators, all need deal flow and all have ways of getting it with this lemmie review your deck being one of them. Our man , here posted a spray and pray list on LinkedIn of so-called angels with no links or any contact information. Head over there and look at the comments. Not saying Ben is a bad guy or doing evil things. I am pointing out that all of this not rainbows and puppy dogs or pro bono love. Ben wants deal flow. Nothing wrong with that. You, the new founder should go into this process with your eyes wide open.

Your 20 dollar a month plan with get you a lot of help. Ask your chat bot to identify the nearest angel group in your area. There are tons of true pro bono types willing to help you with your end goals in mind; not theirs.

And before you ask, I was a VC for 9 years and built 3 start up companies. I've seen this movie a few times.

Good luck

I've never understood this part of the ecosystem-- is it for attention? Notoriety? To get people to buy your book? Something else? If you spent half as much time writing the post as you did actually looking at the site, you'd know the product is free-- if you want more than one you can pay not a subscription but a one time fee because it costs us money to call the underlying model.

But yes please send them to an angel group who will charge them for an application fee, spend 8 months doing due diligence, and send them down the entirely wrong path-- yes, that sounds like the right idea.

Interesting response but not unexpected. Maybe you might have spent an equal amount of pre-response time, looking me up to sort of check the box as to who I am, which is a retired guy with a real distain for lack of transparency. There's nothing, at all, with trying to get deal flow. Your firm's stuff all over LinkedIn, these apps ,etc. are all deal flow mechanics. Just be straight up about it. I never suggest any path, I said eyes wide open, look for some local mentors, etc. As they say, me thinks thy protest too much. And Lucas, it doesn't take rocket science or advance math to calc the token cost per run based on output. What's that 'one time fee' per run? Doesn't show. Doesn't let you actually see the full report without signing up which is collecting email addresses which is, wait for it, part of deal flow. You get to see a bunch of decks, first, give AI feedback (useful most likely), and capture an email address. Deal flow. Be straight up about it.

8 months of DD to a no is awful and sadly too common, so we agree on something.

Rick, not sure how much more clear I can be-- it's literally on the site. Since you're retired, maybe next time spend the extra couple of minutes and do an ounce of real DD instead of complaining about something that is already there.

But you're right. I should change the verbiage. We built this to help founders avoid terrible and lazy feedback from investors. This. Exact. Scenario. Appreciate you proving PMF!

This post doesn't count so you can rest easy with the actual last word. I did go to your website and did see this exact clip. One scan free. Not debating that. At all. Read what I wrote. The pricing, Lucas, what's the pricing? You have code for 5 free, also nice, but it implies there is pricing after the 5 and yeah, the infrastructure ain't free. Again, not debating that. I don't like 17 angels writing check posts when, funny enough, I know a few of them and oddly, they didn't give permission to be on some random LinkedIn post. But whatever. Young new founders who take the time to read through out chit-chat will probably learn something.

Perhaps you're miffed at being lumped in with that VC Boom nonsense which would be fair as I would be, so fair pushback. You're clearly not in that category.

Here in Canada, Lucas, we do things differently then ya'll down south. You can get help, get mentors, get advice, and it isn't fee-based for the most part. Angels do have coffee, no charge, VCs will give almost every sane founder at least a response, etc. So, yeah, I'm bias towards being helpful with nothing expected in return or all of this help (here) being deal flow.

We can split hairs on "signal" vs. "deal flow" vs. whatever. I think your charity blurb is fine, I'm just saying (again) I think, despite the eye-roll I can see, this is all about deal flow which, again, is fine.

Well, you get the last word. As for me, I'm going to go tell the chat bots to get off my lawn.

The feedback I got was very useful. It would be even better if it gives examples in addition to comments. For example, one feedback I got was that there was no "ask" slide. Some tailored samples based on other slides in the deck would be very helpful.

Thanks Cecil-- actually in the middle of adding those so they will be there shortly!

Great product, Congratulations🎉 on the launch!!

 Thanks Dhanraj! Enjoy using it!

Congrats on the launch!

Using this was a huge help. It detected 4 things that needed to be fixed on our deck that really does make it read a lot stronger than it did. Super impressed!
