Elon Musk's newest company! 👀
It all started the morning of Dec 17th, 2016. Elon Musk was in a Tesla, LA traffic was doing its thing. He pulls out his phone while signaling to the AI (using his thoughts) to take over the wheel, and starts tweeting:
5:05 AM: Traffic is driving me nuts. Am going to build a tunnel boring machine and just start digging...
6:15 AM: It shall be called "The Boring Company"
6:16 AM: Boring, it's what we do
Boring, it's what he did.
On Friday afternoon the world learned that Elon was actually serious, as he revealed this video. It shows an underground network of tunnels where cars travel at 130 mph under major cities.
It's only a matter of time before Netflix has to rename the Science-Fiction category into Near-Term Technology.
P.S. This isn’t the only new company Elon announced this year. He wants to turn people into cyborgs.

What's the best writing app for desktop? 🤔
Back in the day, when teachers used to assign students paper-based blog posts for homework, all you had was a pen and the ability to write without autocorrect technology. Those were simpler times.
Today, if you asked people which tools they use for writing, you will get 30+ different responses. Here are the most popular recommendations to Veni's question on Ask Product Hunt:
🐻 Bear is a simple, beautiful writing app for iPhone, iPad, and Mac, and is by far the most recommended writing app from all the responses.
📝 iA Writer comes in at #2, and is the cleanest writing app of the bunch. It gets out of the way and lets you focus on your thoughts.
💻 Ulysses is the third most recommended tool, and it’s powerful particularly for writing long form content across all devices.
Other writing tools that come very highly recommended include: Grammarly, Marked, Hemingway Editor, and dozens of others for you to check out.

In our inaugural edition of Homescreen Club, we analyzed @Jack’s homescreen. Today, we look into the mind of @DeRay, civil rights activist and leader of the movement #BlackLivesMatter.

The Best Wunderlist Alternatives ✅
"Let's get acquired by Microsoft!" –App from your 2015 homescreen
Microsoft shut down the beloved Wunderlist app in favor of To-Do, a new app from the Wunderlist team. To-Do is slick and carries all the best features, but the comments here feel more like a eulogy. 😿
What should you use instead? Excellent question.
🏆 The most popular community recommendation is Any.do, which just added a full calendar view and integrates well with Alexa and Siri.
👌 The closest match to Wunderlist's feature-set is Todoist.
🕵 If you like staying in Google's ecosystem, check out Google Keep.
🗒 Paper-based sticky note technology also works (but costs money).

Facebook's biggest F8 announcement 😲👀
Yesterday at F8, Mark Zuckerberg made it very clear what Facebook’s big area of focus will be: “We’re making the camera the first augmented reality platform.”
Facebook launched a new developer platform for Augmented Reality. The Camera Effects Platform will empower developers to build interactive AR experiences, from “silly” Snapchat-like filters to a futuristic HUD (heads up display) for everything around you. 😳
Also revealed: Facebook’s social virtual reality platform (the reason why Zuck bought Oculus in 2014 for $2B). Our take: it looks like a much friendlier version of The Matrix (watch here).
Lastly, Facebook announced Messenger Platform 2.0. Chris Messina lists out all the new things in his comment. TL;DR: bots are maturing.
