Only 2% of Americans read at the highest possible level, and that's not surprising. The education system only teaches people how to read until grade 3 when they can read the words on the page. After that, there are more 'valuable' (i.e. monetizable) skills to work on. This is why we constantly see headlines like from The Atlantic in Nov 2024 - "The Elite College Students Who Can't Read Books."...
