Building AI Interview Intelligence

About

Hi, I'm Mridul, Head of Growth at Hire-a-Mind, where we're building AI-powered interview intelligence to help hiring teams make faster, more consistent, evidence-backed hiring decisions. My focus is understanding real hiring challenges by speaking with recruiters, founders, talent leaders, and recruitment agencies—then turning those insights into product, messaging, and go-to-market strategy. I'm here to learn from fellow makers, support great product launches, and connect with people building in AI, HR Tech, and B2B SaaS.

Is anyone else exhausted by the ATS black box?

Getting a resume past automated ATS filters feels like a complete guessing game right now.

I recently started building a tool to help with my own job search, aiming to bring some engineering rigour to the process. The goal was to build a structured job search hub that uses AI to perfectly tailor cover letters and resumes to specific job descriptions, but strictly using only the user's real, proven experience. No fluff, no fake metrics.

That personal project eventually turned into a full platform called NextOrbit, which I am launching here today.

Have any of you found consistent strategies for getting past the initial ATS screening layer? I would love to know what is working for you right now.

Outreach is the part of job searching nobody actually does

The advice is everywhere. Reach out to the hiring manager. Don't just be another resume in the pile. Make a human connection before the decision is made.

The data is clear too. LinkedIn research shows 85% of jobs are filled through networking. Candidates sourced directly are 8 times more likely to be hired than those who simply apply. Personalized outreach sees a 45 50% response rate versus 15 20% for generic messages.

Why we built Hire-a-Mind instead of another AI interview note taker

When we first started talking to recruiters, hiring managers, and recruitment agencies, we expected to hear one common request:

"Can AI take better interview notes?"

Instead, the conversations went in a completely different direction.

Most teams already have a way to record interviews or generate transcripts. Some use meeting assistants, others rely on manual notes, and some simply work from memory.
