Do SEOs even feel like SEOs anymore?

Saw a post this week from someone in the industry. They said they've been an SEO for eight years, and lately, they feel like any junior with an AI agent can match their output. The post got huge. A lot of people quietly feel the same .

It hit a nerve. Because the shift has been real. And fast.

What's changed

For twenty years, SEO was about keywords, rankings, and links. You optimized pages for a search engine, you built backlinks, you climbed the SERPs. That was the job .

What marketing tools are people actually using?

From what I am seeing across communities, here is what the tool stack looks like right now.

The Core Stack

Email & Capture: Mailchimp for launch updates and email sequences . Carrd for quick, clean launch-specific landing pages . Pre-launch tools like LaunchBuddy and Prefundia to build a waitlist and gather early feedback before you even hit the Product Hunt button .

Social & Scheduling: Buffer or Hootsuite to keep a consistent presence across X, LinkedIn, and Threads without it taking over your entire day . Canva for generating graphics that do not look like you threw them together in five minutes .

What are the 5 tools you simply couldn't do your work without?

This could be related to your industry, or even a side project you're working on.

Here are my 5 (I couldn't function without them):

  1. Grammarly proofreading my texts, not just posts, but also client communication

  2. ChatGPT / Claude mostly brainstorming, help with copy, and summarising

  3. Figma I can put the basic graphics together quickly.

  4. Translator sounds incredibly old-school, but English is not my mother tongue

  5. Gmail and not only for communication, but also for storing ideas and sending myself email reminders for posts
