Finally, an inbox you'll look forward to. Agents sort your messages, draft your replies, and clear the grunt work behind the scenes, all in a client so well-crafted that email feels light, fast, fun.

Daily driver here. Dictation mode lets me just talk and it writes. And "needs reply" is brilliant: the draft is already there waiting, so I'm never staring at a blank page, but I stay in control of what actually sends. Rare to find AI email that assists without taking over. Congrats to the team.
@benjamin_lalanne1 Staying in the driver's seat is the key to Upstream. Emails are so critical we can't just let an LLM/agent send some without control. I'm super happy you like Upstream!
@benjamin_lalanne1 Love that dictation and "needs reply" are clicking for you, Benjamin - thank you!

Great product! I tested it and I'm pleasantly surprised by its effectiveness! It manages my emails very well, with highly relevant suggested replies that save me time—just reread and send! I haven't tested the collaborative aspect with my team yet, but the promise is there: working together on emails to provide the best possible responses, all while staying aligned with everyone, and all powered by AI. I highly recommend it!
@johan_p_ So glad it's saving you time, Johan - thank you! 🙏

@louislecat Congrats on the launch! The agent alongside you model is the right call, the inbox tools that have tried to fully automate away from the user have always hit a trust wall. The real design challenge is making the handoff between human and agent feel invisible. Curious how you're thinking about the moments where users want to override the agent without breaking the flow, that's where these products usually get complicated. Adding to my stack to test.
@andrea_gill Thanks Andrea! You always have the final say. Agents tee everything up for you and the sending is left to you.
What agent tasks would you want to be able to override?
Report
@louislecat Love that framing! agents tee it up, humans close it. The override moments I'd want most: tone adjustments when the agent reads the relationship wrong, stopping a send when context has changed since the draft was created, and flagging when an agent is about to deprioritize something that actually needs my eyes. Basically anywhere the agent has to make a judgment call about relationship dynamics, that's where I want the wheel back.
@andrea_gill the relationship aspect is fascinating because two emails can look identical on the surface and require completely different responses depending on who sent them :)
@louislecat@andrea_gill Exactly how we see it, Andrea - agent alongside you, never instead of you. Thanks so much!

I've been playing around with several AI email apps and this one is by far the most sophisticated in drafting emails. Great product. Hats off to Louis Lecat and team.
@jayhemmady Thank you! I'm so happy you like it! I didn't knew how hard it is to make an email client before working with the team. I'm so glad we got it right 🥰
@jayhemmady Means a lot. Draft quality has been a huge focus for us.

This resonates the 200 emails a day problem is brutal and most AI inbox tools just slap a summarizer on top without rethinking the actual workflow. The framing of agents working alongside people rather than just filtering is the more interesting bet IMO.
@ana_popescu2 Well said. We've always felt that email is more of a workflow problem than a summarization problem. Curious: what’s the best AI inbox product (or other AI tools and tips to manage your inbox) you’ve tried so far, and where did it fall short for you?
@amaury_sepulchre2 Thank you! Did you know about our team features? they were actually the hardest part to build because email is meant to be personal, not shared. Thanks to them, upstream became the slack for email to me!

@benjamin_lalanne1 We appreciate that Benjamin! Also there are quite a few of us in the office that use dictation too 🗣️🗣️🗣️
