@calum great Qs. The wood is sustainably sourced FSC cherry wood from the U.K. The card had passed MasterCard approval so is fit to be used as an everyday use product.

But wait. Isn't it counter intuitive to cut down trees to make debit cards just to plant trees? It's far better than plastic though.

@wisepythagoras ha! Good question. So our cards are all made from sustainably sourced FSC cherry wood, and we can produce up to 300,000 cards from the wood of a single tree. In general there’s no problem with using sustainably harvested wood, this is a great recyclable material— the problem that we’re solving is is forest areas that are cut down in an unsustainable fashion.

Will anyone care to enlighten me on how things like work.. like cut a tree for wood and make a debit card that plants trees.. even if the number of trees planted by cards made from 1 tree is more than 1, still is it humane to cut down a tree in the first place. What is your opinion!?

This is an incredible concept! I'm excited for where this can go! Following up to @calum 's question about the wood's sourcing, here are some additional data points I think would be great for your landing page and PR: 1) Estimated reductions in individual metrics like one's carbon footprint 2) It's cool that the card core is from recycled bottles, are you using (or are there plans for) plastic-free postage/shipping/packaging? A random idea to add to your queue as well - if you open up a teen or youth-oriented card with a fiscal responsibility or educational model, I think you can connect well with young environmentalists and provide a service that would make this a very appealing option for the parents with teenagers entering the workforce in droves right now. Something to consider!

@jamie_treecard Cool product. Is it just for checking or savings too? If so, any sense of what the APY will be? I use Aspiration (https://www.aspiration.com/) currently and just curious about the differences besides the wooden card.
