Heya hunters! I'm the founder/CEO here at TreeCard. Let me know if you have any Qs 🌴🌳
Diego Aviles
Hey @jamie_treecard ! Great stuff. I am interested to know if the TreeCard will be available in Europe/Germany? Thank you!
Jamie Cox
@avilesdiego heya! yes we plan to offer our card in the EU. We’ll announce exact regional roll out plans soon!
Ilias Ism
@jamie_treecard I love this initiative!
Jamie Cox

Naiyer Asif
Hey @jamie_treecard! Great initiative. Would love to support it but is it available in India?
Merlin Laffitte
What a nice initiative and product! Congrats on the launch 🚀 Love it
Jamie Cox
@merlin_laffitte thanks so much!!
Ryan Hoover
Love the design. This will spark curiosity when swiping.
Jamie Cox
@rrhoover haha! We hope so too. Thanks so much for chiming in.
Josh Buckley
@rrhoover The card is beautiful!
Denny Schenk
lol no greenwashing and your card is already plastic that looks like wood. We'll be waiting for the 80% profit - what's the average duration for a tech start-up to make a profit? 13 years?
Jamie Cox
@denny_schenk Card is made with real wood! And Ecosia actually became profitable in year 1!!
Denny Schenk
@jamie_treecard Fair play. Well done!
Pythagoras
But wait. Isn't it counter intuitive to cut down trees to make debit cards just to plant trees? It's far better than plastic though.
Jamie Cox
@wisepythagoras ha! Good question. So our cards are all made from sustainably sourced FSC cherry wood, and we can produce up to 300,000 cards from the wood of a single tree. In general there’s no problem with using sustainably harvested wood, this is a great recyclable material— the problem that we’re solving is is forest areas that are cut down in an unsustainable fashion.
Pythagoras
@jamie_treecard thanks for the answer. That makes sense. One last question. Is the underlying account FDIC insured?
Jamie Cox
@wisepythagoras yep it will be up to $250k
Will Brooke
Great idea! Does this mean MasterCard is charging more fees or instead willing to pass the normal fees on to fund this initiative?
Jamie Cox
@caipivida Mastercard will be sharing the regular interchange fee with us for tree planting (not charging more)!
Nastya Mikeyeva
@jamie_treecard Does the wooden card is more ecological than the virtual card?
Jamie Cox
@mikeyeva heya! Great question. The card is more ecological than a regular card because it uses less plastic (and the plastic it does use is from recycled plastic bottles). However, a virtual card only would be the most environmentally beneficial, and we will encourage customers to choose this option when they set up their accounts!
Nastya Mikeyeva
@jamie_treecard Great! recycled plastic and a virtual card! That is really nice.
