The first app to close the feedback loop on time management, helping you close the gap between your intentions and your actions.
✔️ Track and understand where your time is spent
✔️ Hold yourself accountable to goals
✔️ Gamify self-improvement
Congratulations on the launch! You mentioned that the competitors lack some gamification mechanics. Could you elaborate on this a bit more and show what kind of gamification features TimeAlign has? Thanks!
@semanser Sure! I'm a total time blocking and time management geek, so I've seen and used a lot of other tools before I decided to build my own.
First of all, most productivity and time management tools don't have ANY gamification mechanics, as they are focused on workplace productivity, meeting coordination, and billable hours. This can do wonders for your productivity, but it is not gamified and frankly, it can be kinda boring.
The apps that are explicitly trying to gamify the time management experience are missing something that we think is VERY important: the closed feedback loop.
This means combining goal-driven scheduling with time/behavior tracking--intention vs action. The primary gamification mechanism in TimeAlign works by closing the feedback loop on time management, comparing your tracked vs scheduled time. This unique approach to time management is the foundation of the TimeAlign system.
From this core feedback loop, we calculate an "Alignment Score" which is a measure of how well your time is aligned to your schedule and goals. This is powerful because we are able to take a lot of data and simplify it into a single metric that accurately represents something important. The app also gives you a clear idea of what actions you need to take in order to increase the score, which is a classic use of gamification to induce positive behavior change.
Beyond the alignment score, we have layered some additional gamification mechanisms that set TimeAlign apart from other productivity apps:
- Alignment view: The alignment view shows your tracked time next to your scheduled time for the day. You can drag and drop scheduled time to the tracked column or begin tracking in real time. Aligning your tracked and scheduled time will increase your alignment score.
- Goals: goals take habit tracking a step further by actually encouraging the user to schedule time to achieve them. There are lots of studies that show that you are much more likely to do something if you scheduled time to do it.
- Data insights: the app gives you in-depth insights to see how much time you scheduled and tracked and compare it to previous weeks.
@yc_j currently, the app is only on iOS and Watch OS for now, but we built the tech stack for rapid cross-platform development, so we will be releasing on Android and web/desktop in the future.
If you'd like to get notified when we release on Android (and even help beta test it for us!) you can sign up for the Android waitlist here:

Can I export my data from TimeAlign for further analysis?
@riya_goyal3 You sure can! Open your Account settings >Export Data > Begin Export.
What are you looking to do with the data? We are always looking for wats to improve the in-app data insights and make the data export more useful!
@terrence_kelleman You have no idea how many times we said this as we were building it 😂 We needed TimeAlign to help us build TimeAlign! As we improve the product it gets easier and easier...

Nice companion to help you keep disciplined... Congrats
@toshit_garg Absolutely - an app to gamify your self-discipline.
One big challenge we now have to contend with is the nature of humans themselves! An app can only do so much, and notification blindness is a very real thing. It's very easy to ignore things when we see them often and novelty wears off.
We're going to try to explore ways to make the app impactful. Gamification, as we've written about, is one of them, but another that I want to explore in the future is that of using AI to personalize messaging to fit your specific goals, context, and communication preferences.
So for instance - the first time your reminder to go run goes off, it's just your average reminder. You snooze it, or skip it.
The next time, it takes into account your "why", reminding you there was a reason you set that timeblock to go run, you want to get in shape for that vacation you're going on in two months. There are lots of opportunities to use AI to personalize and improve these experiences.
The communication preference side of things as well - maybe you prefer your AI "coach" to use more comedy (reminds me of TARS in Interstellar), or be encouraging yet professional. My little brother was talking about his and he said he'd prefer it to cuss at him 😂.
So hey, whatever works to break the monotony and remind you why you set the intention in the first place.
@nikunj_vora Scheduled time blocks can overlap as many as you want, but you can choose only one activity to track at a time.
We will be implementing a "tagging" feature in the near future so you can apply multiple activities to a single timeblock, but for now, your tracked timeblocks cannot overlap.
We've actually had a bit of a philosophical debate about this design and we still don't have the perfect answer, so I'd love to hear your thoughts! Would you like to have overlapping tracked blocks?
