Hey Product Hunt folks, I'm Akshay, founder of THAT WAS AI.
I spent the last year talking to Shopify founders and kept hearing the same complaint: customers still call, support teams burn hours on the same five questions, and the voice AI tools out there can talk to a customer but can't actually update an order, change an address, issue a refund or take any other action that's required. So the call still ends with a human doing the actual work.
So we built a phone agent that actually takes action inside a Shopify store. On a call, it can look up an order, update a shipping address, cancel or refund an order, check inventory, even place a new order right there on the call. If it can't handle something, it opens a ticket or forwards the call to your human support team with full context.
Setup is add your store link, install the app, connect a phone number. It's live.
And ofcourse we're offering a free trial, and for the first 50 people who sign up from here, I'll personally cover your first month. Sign up and I'll email you.
If you've got questions about how it handles a call, ask away, happy to walk you through it.
AI phone support for Shopify brands feels like a category where the quality of the experience matters a lot more than simply automating replies. Curious what has been the hardest part to make feel genuinely human in real customer conversations.
@aryan787544 Good question. Honestly the hardest part has been handling interruptions and mid-sentence changes, for example when someone starts asking about a order item changes and switches to "actually just cancel it." Getting the AI to follow that shift without sounding confused took way more tuning than the actual order lookup logic.
@akshaysolenk That's a fascinating edge case because it's less about answering correctly and more about recognizing when the customer's intent has changed mid-conversation.
I'm curious: as you keep improving that, what metric will matter most to you—higher resolution rates, or customers feeling like they never had to adapt their thinking to the AI? Those can lead to very different product decisions.
Honestly the shipping address update blew me away, like it actually pulled the order and confirmed with me before saving. Setup was maybe five minutes tops which is kind of rare for this kind of tool.
@berkefbrt This means a lot, thanks for trying it out. That confirmation step was intentional, glad it showed.
