I can see a few others have asked, I'd love to know what your plans are for future challenges. Will we be able to add our own/are there areas you want to focus on? Well done & thank you!
Hi @demgerolemou
Yes, we already have some early sketches for 'adding your own challenges' hopefully it will be on your phone within a few weeks.
For challenges we want to look into dating and family challenge packs. Seems like there is a big need for this. Do you have any ideas for challenge packs?

Hey @rikkekoblauch, thanks for your reply. That's really great to hear. Dating is an interesting one, I saw Sean Rad from Tinder speak a few months back - he said Tinder was initially built to help you behave as you would without social anxiety holding you back. It seems to have mutated from that, but there's lots you could do in the space with Steps.
I'd love something around travel, I'm one of those people with a Wunderlist of ambitions that is rarely visited. A career goals/progression one could be quite nice to help people find confidence.
Really love what you've built, such an important area and beautifully executed, nice one!
Travel is really interesting and for sure a good way to get out of comfort zone! We've added a travel pack to the pipeline - thank you so much @demgerolemou, great inputs!
Congratulation for your launch!
What i love about this is all in your vision: "make mental health care accessible and help people overcome social anxiety".
It is surprising how little has been done to leverage technology and good design when it comes to mental health. Actually, what happens is usually the opposite: technology driving anxiety and stress. But it doesn't have to be like this.
Our phones are in many ways our little personal helpers in our pocket. They are personal in ways other technologies cannot be. They know many things about us, even more than our family or friends. The ability to use all this power to help us is something that requires thoughtful design and a strong passion for the problem at hand. Looking at your app I feel that's exactly what you have.
A few questions:
- What's next for steps? where do you see this going after "challenges"?
- Who has been using it so far? do you have any findings already about the improvements it generates?
- How does it fit with the "established" best practices and the support of a therapist?
good luck!
@stefanozorzi thanks for your comment - we think there is still a lot to be done in this space!
- Next bigger step is work out the reflection part of exposure therapy, so about your expectations leading up to a challenge, how it actually went and how you feel after.
- We've had a public beta live for about a month with more than a 150 users, from that we gathered a lot of insights and shipped about 3 versions after the first. A lot of our users has a lot of ideas for features and challenges, most of them have or will be implemented!
- This is something we're talking about a lot - can steps support the relationship between you and your therapist and help you do "homework"? That is for sure a the dream.
Thanks Stefano, means a lot!
The most humble but talented team. Been part of the beta and love it! How do you plan to build on the categories of challenges? Can see obvious opportunities for things like dating.
@carlmartin aww Carl, stop it!
You're not the first one asking for a dating challenge pack, it's for sure on our list!
We're also looking into a family pack, so small things to do for or with your family. What do you think?
Awesome idea. I struggle with a lot of this stuff, but I'm happy the challenges vary between achievable and downright terrifying. I've already managed to check-off one thing this morning, and it felt good.
What are your plans for more challenges? Also; is there a way to get the general sentiment of a challenge? I'd be cool to know if a few thousand other people are trying to buy coffee for strangers and sharing their successes (or failures).
Hi @chopeh, thank you means a lot! Happy you found the app useful!
There has been a few asking for a "dating challenge pack", so that is on the list.
We're personally really interested in a doing a "family pack" and "mindfullness pack". Do you have ideas?

Congrats on your launch. Your app feels super sleek, well-rounded and super user-friendly. I'm don't consider myself socially anxious, but I think the challenges are super relevant for me simply to 'open my mind' and try some fun stuff every now and again. I think it could be cool for my friends as well.
Can I suggest my own challenges? Can I challenge my friends?
Hi @rasmuss, thank you so much - happy you like it!
We actually have some early sketches for suggesting your own challenge, so I'm sure it will be live within a few weeks.
Right now you can share a completed challenge with friends and on social media, but we want to make this a richer experience with the possibility to add pictures etc.
I love this app so much - congratulations for designing and building such a beautiful product!
- I'd love to see a hierarchy or "difficulty" feature; although I can imagine that might vary from person to person?
- I'm a big fan of statistics - would absolutely love to see a week-by-week progress report of how many I've completed, the corresponding difficulty, and what my next steps (ha!) should be
- Also, pleeeease let me add my own! I think there's a huge opportunity for community-suggested challenges!
@sam_piggott ❤️

GREAT stuff on the launch Rikke and Fabian! 🎉🎉 I love this so much, not just because it focuses on such a widespread but under-discussed mental health issue but also because of the approach: using micro-challenges makes overcoming anxiety feel less overwhelming and achievable. And the app just feels really lovely to use. Best of luck!!!!! Would be interesting to know what you're planning next and whether you plan to include social elements inside the app? To let you encourage friends or something?
@sarahgillmartin Thanks Sarah, means a lot!
We really want to give people the possibility to share their own experiences in the app, we truly think inspiration and support is a big part of overcoming anxiety.
That is how it at started really - I wrote about my own experiences on overcoming the fear of being on my own, you can read more on www.medium.com/steps
