On July 30, we launched SKI (Voice coding for your agents) on Product Hunt, and by the end of the day it became the #1 Product of the Day. It was a moment we had dreamed about for months, and seeing all the hard work finally pay off is something we'll never forget. To everyone who upvoted, left a comment, reported a bug, shared feedback, or simply gave SKI a try, thank you. Every bit of support meant more than you know.
The launch introduced SKI to thousands of people, brought invaluable feedback, improved our visibility across search engines and AI search, and opened doors to opportunities we wouldn't have had otherwise. Beyond the numbers, it reminded us that great products aren't built in isolation. They're shaped by the people who use them.
As we continue building at Pattern AI Labs, we want this community to grow alongside us. That's why we've started a Discord community where we'll share early previews, product updates, behind-the-scenes progress, and new launches. More than that, it's a place for founders, developers, and anyone curious about the future of AI to connect, collaborate, share what they're building, learn from one another, and help shape what we build next.
Yes, I want this! Giving it a try.
Heads up: Clicking the download buttons on your site did not work for me (but copying the link manually did)
Update - initial feedback:
- Very quick to setup and understandable! Love how it just instantly works on my existing setup without any configuration.
- The talk-indicator doesn't feel responsive. It needs three important visual states: recording started (key pressed), listening, recording ended (key released)
- Since push-to-talk doesn't present anything visually on screen, I find it hard to stay focused on the audible conversation. The effect is something like taking a regular phone call while working, as opposed to having a video call with screen sharing. While it's very neat to have it out of the way, I think SKI might work better if it had a fuller GUI showing what's being talked about. Maybe a 400x300 floating window where SKI can pull up the current artifact (current plan, PR description, commit log, quickly sketched diagram, screenshot, etc)
- What SKI calls "Projects" are actually worktrees/agents within a project. Maybe not crucial now, but might be worth a retake (either call it workspaces, or introduce a hierarchy).
Question:
Can I switch project by voice? (I'm afraid to ask, if my agent ends up trying a creative solution...)
SKI
@erik_v Thanks a lot for the detailed feedback. Fixed the download issue. Thank you for letting us know.
Will work on the indicator feedback. At present we have only focused on listening, thinking and speaking modes. Will add more indicators for the states of recording in the upcoming update.
We are working on a little more complex version of ski, like you have mentioned, where in, SKI gets more visual indicators and controls compared to the subtle presence it has now.
Unfortunately, we haven't implemented an intelligence in existing SKI, and it will not be able to switch project by voice. It is hotkey controlled. But if you ask it to get something from another project, and if the agent connected to SKI has access to the folder, it will bring that in for you. But the context might get mixed up. Will come up with a solution in the next version :)
SKI
@erik_v Thanks a lot for the feedback. Keep using it. Will iron out all the issues shortly.

Will it run on agents running on isolated PCs without internet connection ?
SKI
@clemente_lopez1 Yes, ski runs completely offline once it is installed. No internet connection is needed for it to run.

I am a firm believer of the rapid the migration from traditional UX to voice based UX. Would love to check this out and give feedback. Kudos on the launch, SKI team!
SKI
@sid_625 Thanks a lot for checking us out and for the support. Please check out the product and let us know your feedback.
It has a little more features like meeting transcription (both bot free and bot present) and agents in meeting (connect your project into a meeting for agent to talk in meeting, present or chat). Please take a look at it as well https://heyski.io/tutorials

Does SKI need API keys to use ?
SKI
@drew_nich Voice coding in SKI is completely free and doesn't need API keys from any voice providers for transcription or speech generation. Everything is local and on-device.
@johnkg003 Thanks! Huge congrats on #1. Well deserved! 🔥👏
SKI
@drew_nich Thanks a lot. More time to go. Thanks a lot for your support. Please try out our product SKI and let us know if you face any issues or if you have any feedback and we would be happy to help.
@johnkg003 For sure! I'll spend some time with SKI and share detailed feedback. Looking forward to seeing what you've built. 🚀

Does it diarize speakers in meeting recording ?
SKI
@anandakrishnan_vinod Thank you for checking our product.
There are 2 meeting recording options available
Offline meeting recorder - In this, there is no speaker diarization. It records and transcribes the audio from meeting and from your mic as separate channels. It can distinguish between what you said and what the meeting said, but cannot name the speaker from meeting. This feature is free and unlimited. Completely on device.
Agentic notetaker - This is a cloud feature. In this, the transcription has speaker names (as shown in the meeting). Supported platforms are - Teams, Meet and Zoom. The transcripts are stored into the connected project folder, which can then be accessed by the agent. Cloud features are billed per minute, with free 6 hours included. Needs sign up.
@johnkg003 Just supported! 🚀 Congrats on the launch, and all the best for #1 today!

@anandakrishnan_vinod Thank you :)

Does it have built-in intelligence or uses our agent's intelligence such as of Claude Code ?
SKI
@arjun_sureshh No, it doesn't have built in intelligence. It uses your coding agent to understand, work and speak.
@johnkg003 That's helpful. Are there any plans to support built-in intelligence in the future for users who don't already use a coding agent?
SKI
@arjun_sureshh Yes, we will have a tiny LLM that runs locally on your machine in upcoming release. But we might not be bundling a bigger LLM until they get better for everyday use in small size.
Do follow us for the future updates
@johnkg003 Sounds like a thoughtful roadmap. Looking forward to trying the local LLM when it's available. Thanks for the clarification!

Just curious... Is notch mode available in windows ?
SKI
@lakshmi_ravi Notch mode is available only on Mac for now.
@johnkg003 Thanks for the clarification! Are there any plans to bring Notch Mode to Windows in the future?
SKI
@lakshmi_ravi Since windows doesn't usually come with a notch in most models, we are figuring out how to place something similar to notch without covering the menu functions which usually are present at that location on windows. Will keep you posted.
Thanks a lot for your support!
@johnkg003 Appreciate the detailed response. Looking forward to future updates and seeing the Windows implementation when it's ready. All the best!
