Scribsy is a living story bible for novelists. It never writes a sentence of your book. As you write, it builds characters, places, things and concepts from your pages, each linked to the passage it came from, and nothing becomes canon until you confirm it. When a character returns, it brings back what you wrote about them. Close a chapter and it checks it against the facts you already settled. The beta is free.

Hey Product Hunt. I'm Steven, and Scribsy is a living story bible for novelists. It never writes a sentence of your book.
The fastest way to see what that feels like is the demo at demo.scribsy.ai. It has The Three Musketeers pre-loaded, all 1.18 million words of it, with the story bible already built. Hover a character and you get every scene they appear in. Ask it a question and the answer points back to the passage it came from. It never writes prose.
That speed is the part I'm proudest of, so here's the tech, since a lot of you will want to know.
The document is a CRDT, so a manuscript stays live and mergeable instead of being a file you save and reload. Two small models run in your browser to spot names and map meaning, so that reading costs nothing per book and comes back in under 100ms. Entities feed a hypergraph pipeline that links characters, places, events and open questions back to the passage they came from, with vector search on top. Cloud models do the heavier parsing, continuity, and reasoning work, and only for books you set to Full story bible. Every book can start Private, where your words never reach an AI provider.
Honest limits: real-time collaboration is switched off for now, there are no publish-ready export formats yet (you can export everything, story bible included, as Markdown, plain text or JSON), Private books are thinner with no continuity checks, and it's web-only until the apps arrive in 2027. The full roadmap is at scribsy.ai/roadmap.
I've been building this for a year by myself. Free while the partner credits last! Tell me what's missing.
