The Glass Loupe is the detail I'd reach for in app demos — a classic zoom moves the whole screen for one tiny control, which loses the context around it. When you add a loupe after recording, can you move and resize it freely on the timeline, or is its position set while you're capturing?
@jcbuilds Hi JC! You add it after recording, so nothing is set while capturing. In the editor you can drag it to the exact spot or let it follow your cursor, change its size and zoom level, and set how long it stays by dragging its edges on the timeline. There’s also a Pan option if you want it to glide from one point to another.
I’d love the ability to add a logo/water mark. I get so much value out of this product but it’s hard to make a perfect background with my logo so the ability to add a separate logo and position it would be super helpful.
@bryce_deneen Could you elaborate/show me where you want to place a logo? Is it during talking-head segments where you want your audience to be just focused on you? Or a persistent thing?
@merlindru Thanks for responding! For what I do, it would be something that would be always on top of everything else, and I can configure the placement on screen.
How I imagine it working is on this screen (the background screen) there would be a new option in the right pane that is maybe "Water Mark image" or something like that. Then I can select my logo and move it around to place it so that it alway shows. In this example I might want the Kinetic Flux logo on the bottom left outside the screen I've recorded.
The work around I sometimes use is to add the logo to a background image, but that means I have to know the exact dimensions of the screen I'm working with etc and it is a bit challenging to place perfectly. Let me know if that makes sense, happy to clarify further.
@merlindru @bryce_deneen Thanks Bryce, that makes total sense! Quick question: would a few preset positions work for you, like the corners and edges, similar to how you place the camera overlay? Or do you need to place it freely anywhere?
@merlindru @dawid_wilewski for me presets in the 4 corners and maybe being able to resize it would be perfect I don’t need to move it around. some may want it as a water mark across the whole screen and control of transparency, that is not my use case.
I was an early fan and supporter of Screen Studio. But since they forced a subscription to use the product I am moving to new software and can no longer recommend. I'm sure there will be open source software on par with this soon enough.
@robmoore Thanks for the honest feedback, Rob, and for supporting us so early. Just so you know, your license still works and you keep the version you have. As an early adopter you can also renew a year of updates for much less than the regular price. If you’d like, email me at david@screen.studio and I’ll check what it would be for you.
I am your paying customer:
- your shortcuts did not make sense (make them like other apps - use same shortuct for same function - e.g. Backspace for Delete? Use DELETE BUTTON!)
- UI is sexy but not intuitive! 😁
@merlindru Sure. When I use Screen Studio again I'll let you know exactly what pisses me off.
@pie6k Adam, I’m one of your early adopters and have always loved your tool, but in many cases I struggled on my MBA M3, especially with audio/video not being properly synchronized. I also waited ages to export recordings to video. But wow, man... Version 4 is next level! The app is super fast and responsive, and I couldn’t even sip my coffee during the export. Congratulations on the product and thank you! Thanks to you, our SaaS looks way more professional even with a small team and budget.
@pie6k @roman_mastalir1 Apologies for the issue you experienced, and thank you for the feedback.
I have been a user for a while (ltd member of early version of screen studio). Absolutely love the software and great to see the product still getting updates and succeeding in the fast pace arena of tech!
Thank you team for making it easier for me to record YouTube videos, SOPs and demos!
@jonathan_scorey Thanks Jonathan! Since you record for YouTube, would uploading straight from Screen Studio to YouTube be useful for you?
Glass Loupe sounds fun, if it does what I think it does.
