^ I'd be interested to hear from a producthunter if this helped at all. There are so many apps out for it now that I don't know what, if anything, really would have an impact.

I have one. The Reddit thread on LucidDreaming has some good insights as well. Few people get lucid dreaming right, this device can help but it's not some magical product that'll have you start having lucid dreams every night from day one. Since dreaming in general is so different for everyone, it's hard to be objective about it.
I can't find anything on Twitter, their press, or their Vimeo comments, from anyone who's had success. Seems odd given that 6,000+ people contributed to their Kickstarter.
But it's apparently based on PhD research that saw some success and led to production of the NovaDreamer (link also added). For $95, I'm gonna need some more proof than that. But definitely want this to work!
