I was not able to understand my emotions.
They were constantly blocked, suppressed and only reflected in my daily life as negative behavioral patterns. One of them was a type of eating disorder that I had to fight with for more than a decade due to not being able to process my emotions on a daily basis.
I was logically addressing everything, resolving and reasoning through all the heavy traumas starting from my childhood, but I was not processing them emotionally.
I was always conscious about the emotions of people that were around me, clearly understanding what they felt but I couldn’t process my own emotions. Until I was an adult, I never really found someone to have a real, genuine, conversation about my life experience. I kept everything within me, and now only retrospectively I understand that I developed many coping mechanisms to deal with the emotions I was suppressing.
When I got out of the environments where I experienced my traumas, my life didn't change and become this flourishing, beautiful place immediately. I made many mistakes.
I tried to belong to friend groups that had nothing to do with my core.
I put myself into relationships that were the definition of toxicity.
I criticized myself more than anyone ever could.
I was basically repeating all the negative patterns I had by putting myself into environments that would allow me to experience what I already knew from my early life experience.
My transformation happened so slowly.
Step by step.
Day by day.
I fell back into many emotional traps and got up again. I learned about my psyche, brain and how everything works, etc.
But the biggest change I experienced only came when I openly, genuinely started to talk about my experiences and found someone who really listens and cares. That made me reflect on everything not only on a logical level but also on an emotional level because it allowed me to feel the emotions that I was blocking for decades.
It was tough, I must admit, because I also had to face myself and how I was functioning in this world from a place of bitterness but not love. I was doing this not because I wanted to be that bitter person but because that was a fundamental part of my self-protection mechanism. I didn't or, more accurately, couldn't let myself be truly loved by someone and truly connect in my relationships. I have been in that place where most of us experience on a daily basis and I finally got out.
Today we are launching this product from a place of knowing how important it is to have someone to open up to. To let your emotions out. Someone to give you new perspectives. Someone to acknowledge your experience but be honest when the time comes.
We are building Psyche to support you in your journey. It will help you to find your authentic voice that is cleared from the negative cycles. Psyche cannot "heal" you, but it can be there for you while you are transforming yourself into whatever you really desire to be.
We deeply hope to build Psyche with you. We don't assume we know and have everything you need. We want to listen to you and figure out what you need and provide that for you. So your feedback, your perspective, your voice are the most important things for us. Psyche will only be there as long as you need it. Because this was the only reason it was built for.

In one study from Harvard Business Review was outlined how more and more people use AI for Therapy. You are on the point.
One suggestion: I like how the environment is clean with the prompt "Tap to speak" – Personally, I would add some questions like "What happened?" "What are your feelings?" or something that could start the convo, because when I tapped on the circle, I didn't know what to start with.

Great thoughtful product folks. Currently, it looks like having standalone conversations rather than a recurring one.
Listing a few thoughts:
Will it make sense for the app to have a background of the user before it starts the session. Like few key things around the user, say age, career, relationships?
Are we planning to store the data so that next time the user talks to them, the AI has a memory of previous conversations. For e.g. the Spaces feature of Perplexity allows me to maintain a continous session on certain topics.
The AI voice abruptly stopped in the end. Just a bug, maybe.
My wife has struggled with depression and anxiety for years. Whenever she sees a doctor, the conversation often ends with the same advice: "Go be more social." But not everyone is built that way. Some people are introverted or simply don’t find like-minded individuals easily. Is your AI designed to support people like that. Those who may struggle to express their feelings or thoughts clearly, or who don’t fully understand why they’re feeling the way they do?
@praveentiwari I understand the context you described. Psyche is there to enable people in their own way rather than telling them what is right or wrong or what should they do. In that sense Psyche supports people to unblock them by providing them the safe environment they need. Psyche doesn't have any settings option yet.
