Super excited to share what the Paddle team has been cooking up for the app community!
With the US App Store now open to external payments for in-app purchases, app developers are buzzing about the potential to avoid Apple’s 30% commission & significantly grow their margins.
But we’ve also heard that building new web infra for an external checkout and making it play nice with your app’s codebase isn’t easy.
So we raced to build two new tools that make it effortless to set-up your first external payment flow & connect it to your app - and trust me when I say this - the Paddle team has been burning the candle at both ends to get this shipped 🕯️
So what are we launching? Hosted Checkouts & our Checkout Starter Kit Vercel template:
🌐 Hosted Checkouts lets you build a web checkout right from the Paddle dashboard – no coding required. Just fill in a few fields and hit deploy. Paddle hosts the checkout on a custom URL that you can link to right from your app’s paywall.
⚙️ Checkout Starter Kit has all the code you need for a working web checkout, in a Vercel template. Extend or customize it as much as you like; then click “deploy” to go live – Vercel deploys it on your own domain, that you can link to from your app.
The best part is they’re both built on Paddle, so you also get the world’s best Merchant of Record automating away the pain of global payments.
Chargebacks? Fraud? Billing support? Global tax remittance? Paddle's got your back here (just like the App Store does) so you’re not stuck with a sudden burden when you add external payment methods, and become responsible for these things yourself :)

Why only get payment management from another source when you can get so many more useful things as a small + scaling app builder? Taxes are something easily overlooked until it hits you in the face. I would rather have Paddle help me with that from the start!

YESSSS! This is a huge win for app devs after the huge win over Apple's app store monopoly. As a long-time Paddle user, I can say handling payments at my startup has been painfree. Super happy to see this now available for apps - makes moving off Apple’s 30% cut a no-brainer. Global tax and subscription management, invoice billing… all handled. Such a timely solution. Well done team Paddle - super!

This is awesome! The @Paddle team pulled off an incredibly quick turn around on this considering the decision to remove the 30% commission was made only a few weeks ago. Good to see Paddle taking action and providing developers with alternatives.
Congrats on the launch. I will definitely check this out for the app that I'm currently working on launching in the App Store.
