Planning a marathon abroad means race dates, entry windows and fees on different sites, often not in your language. PacerTrip puts it in one app: 3,000+ races in 142 countries with entry dates and fees in your currency, a reminder the day before entry opens (big races can sell out on day one), stays sorted by distance to the start, an AI race-week itinerary, and a runner community for every race, auto-translated into your language. Free on iOS, Android and the web, in 44 languages.

Claude CodeAnthropic’s deep-context AI coder

PacerTrip is a one-person team, and Claude Code is how that works. It writes and reviews code across the web app, the mobile app and the database, runs the tests, and helps check race data against official race sites before it goes live. It also helped translate the app and race info into 44 languages. What I value most is that it reads the whole codebase before changing things, so fixes land in the right place instead of patching symptoms.

I'm a solo maker, so I didn't want to run my own backend. One Postgres database holds everything: 3,000+ races, entry alerts, the per-race chat rooms and translations for 44 languages. Row-level security lets the iOS app, Android app and website share the same data safely, and realtime keeps race chat rooms live without a separate server. Plain SQL also made it easy to audit and fix race data at scale.

The website has thousands of race pages in 44 languages, and runners find them through search from all over the world. Vercel serves them fast everywhere, runs the scheduled jobs that check race dates and send entry alerts, and its firewall keeps scraper bots from eating the budget. I push to main and it's live in about a minute, which matters when a race changes its entry date overnight.

One React Native codebase gives me the iOS and Android apps, which is the only way one person can ship both. EAS builds and submits to the stores without me babysitting Xcode, and over-the-air updates let a bug fix reach runners the same day instead of waiting for store review. That matters a lot when a race opens entry tomorrow and the reminder has to work.
