Openspot is the next-gen talent marketplace that empowers job seekers to create modern and engaging profiles beyond traditional resumes and static formats, using multi-modality capabilities like video, audio, and written text. Create in minutes and stand out.
I’m Julian, one of the co-founders of Openspot and we’re building a platform born from the frustrations we've all felt with traditional, static resumes and outdated networking platforms.
Let’s be honest:
📉 LinkedIn feels more like Facebook than a hiring / networking platform.
📎 Resumes are just decorated bullet points and aren't built for a competitive job market. How do you get to know someone or stand out through bullet points?
🤝 Networking? Awkward and superficial.
We built Openspot because we were tired of feeling invisible in a sea of sameness.
What makes it hit:
📹 Add a short video or voice intro
🪩 Beautiful profiles that feel human
🎯 Built for standing out, not feeding the content machine
🔍 Recruiters can search you via natural language (yes, really)
🧑🎤 Prompts that help people understand the person behind the profile.
We started this with a simple hack: building personal sites and video resumes that actually worked. Now we’ve turned it into something anyone can use in minutes.
🚀 We hit #1 on Hacker News last week with 450+ comments and wild feedback.
🛠️ We're raw, bootstrapped, and building this for people like us.
If you’ve ever felt overlooked or boxed in by traditional platforms: try Openspot.
We’d love your feedback, your ideas, and yeah… even your roasts.
Let’s make job searching and networking actually human.
@fliellerjulian interesting others have tried, Peerlist, Polywork to name a few..it’s so hard to execute. But i do believe it’s time for another contender, good luck, hope you pull it off.
Maybe worth going after a few strategic business partners to signup make it more viable.
Yeah, totally agree execution is tough. From our perspective, Peerlist and Polywork are still pretty close to LinkedIn in terms of structure: basic profiles, followers, feed, etc. Just with a slightly more modern coat of paint.
We're trying to go a different route: no social feed, no likes, no “personal brand” pressure, just scrollable, expressive profiles that help you stand out when it matters (especially with optional video/audio).
And yep, we’re already talking to a few early hiring partners to make the network more valuable on both sides 🙌
Would love to hear who you’d go after first if you were us!
@fliellerjulian finally something different! i've had enough of all the BS on linkedin lately, seriously. it's just noise most days ( T_T). openspot looks like a breath of fresh air, maybe a place where you can actually show who you are? not just buzzwords. looks really clean. nice job and congrats on the launch team!!

There’s no single secret sauce to landing a job, but we believe the process should feel more human. You’re more than just bullet points on a resume, and Openspot is our way of making sure you can actually show that.
Here’s to making meaningful connections and landing your next opportunity! 🦦
👋 Hey everyone! I’m Carol, co-founder of Openspot alongside Julian and Kassidy.
We’ve poured a lot of heart into building something that actually feels meaningful, because we’ve all felt how frustrating and dehumanizing the traditional job search and networking platforms can be, especially in a competitive job market.
Excited to share this with you all and looking forward to hearing what you think. Cheers! 💙
Excited to see Openspot redefining professional networking! 🚀
As someone tired of LinkedIn’s noise and the rigidity of traditional resumes, Openspot’s focus on authentic, multimedia profiles (videos, audio clips, thoughtful prompts) feels like a breath of fresh air. No more drowning in a sea of bullet points—this platform actually lets professionals show their personality and skills.
Why I’m impressed:
Human-first design: Networking feels less transactional and more meaningful.
Job search made dynamic: Stand out with video/audio snippets instead of static PDFs.
Built by a team that clearly understands modern hiring pain points (Julian’s note about LinkedIn becoming "Facebook for resumes" hits home!).
For anyone craving a no-BS, clutter-free alternative to LinkedIn, Openspot is worth a try. Team—curious: How do you plan to tackle the "cold start" problem of attracting early users?
