Hey Product Hunt 👋
I'm Alex, CEO and co-founder of Nume. After almost 24 months heads-down, we're finally putting Nume, our AI CFO, in front of this community.
🤔 Why we built this
I've been a founder for 16 years and never been able to afford a full-time CFO.
Every founder I have ever known lives the same story: hours every month wrangling spreadsheets, chasing the bookkeeper, trying to answer "how much runway do we actually have?" at midnight before a board meeting.
A fractional CFO is too expensive for early-stage. A full-time hire only makes sense at €5M+ ARR. The rest of us live in spreadsheet hell.
Five years ago we decided to attack this by setting up two companies under one roof: a fractional CFO firm called Scaleup Finance (now in London and Copenhagen, serving hundreds of clients), and a tech company building Nume from what those CFOs learn every day.
Our original inspiration came from Palantir's forward-deployed-engineer model, as we thought the best way to know what to automate was to first do the work alongside customers with human CFOs.
Every workflow Nume runs today started as a real CFO doing it for a real client.
🤖 What Nume actually does
Nume is a system of specialised agents that collaborate on any given task, with access to proprietary tools and native integrations. From the moment you onboard, Nume:
Plugs into your accounting system (QuickBooks, Xero, Zoho Books, Odoo, e-conomic) and your bank
Onboarding take 5-10 minutes
Builds you a personal CFO action plan of recurring tasks it will run automatically - insights, reports, budget vs actual tracking, scenario modeling, runway forecasting, flags risk, variances etc.
Communicates proactively in Slack or email
Outputs anything you need in Excel, PowerPoint, PDF etc.
⏱️ Why this took us 24 months
For us it all started when Claude 3.5 Sonnet came out. We could finally build things that worked impressively well. But finance is a domain where accuracy matters, which is why we didn't take Nume out of beta until December 2025 when we finally hit 100% accuracy on the 500+ finance evals we calibrate Nume against.
🚀 What's next
Many more integrations (also non-finance systems)
Even more advanced forecasting capabilities
Multi-entity consolidation
Would love to hear all of your inputs on what you'd want from your AI CFO👀
💬 For the Product Hunt community
You can get started with Nume in 5–10 minutes and try it free for 30 days, no credit card. Charlie, Wiebke, and I will be in the comments all day. Just shoot us any questions, and if you try the product, go ahead and give us your complete raw and unfiltered feedback 🙏

@alexander_sonne_wulff congrats on the launch, looks really cool, esp the proactive slack alerts. How does it decide what's alert-worthy? Bc I don't want another tool sending me 14 notifs a day
Thanks a lot @kwadwoadu, really great question 🙏 We’ve spent a HUGE amount of time thinking about this, because the last thing you need is spamming about immaterial matters.
So there are essentially two levels of proactivity in Nume:
Recurring finance tasks & reporting
During onboarding, Nume creates a personalized CFO Action Plan based on your company, industry, stage, and setup.
This typically includes things like:
Monthly management reporting
Cash flow reporting
Actuals vs. budget follow-up
Overdue debtor monitoring
Forecast updates
These are based directly on the workflows and reporting routines our real CFOs run for clients inside our fractional CFO business today, so the goal is to be genuinely useful without becoming overwhelming.
You can also fully customize cadence, frequency, and create your own reports/workflows. Some reports run on fixed schedules (e.g. every Monday morning or monthly on the 1st), while others are event-triggered.
For example, during onboarding Nume will set up agents that every day monitors and checks your bookkeeping and month-end close process for previous month. And only when your bookkeeper has been through the month close and your books are fully reconciled, will Nume deep dive and produce the relevant reports for you.
Agentic monitoring & proactive intelligence
The next version we’re shipping goes even further here, a bit Openclaw style. Nume continuously scans your financial data, reporting patterns, prior conversations, forecasts, and operational context in the background. The goal is not just scheduled reporting, but proactively surfacing things that genuinely deserve attention.
That could be:
Runway suddenly shortening
Unusual spend patterns
Invoice collection slowing down
Margin deterioration
Hiring pace outgrowing revenue
Forecast deviations
So the long-term vision is really a combination of:
Structured recurring CFO workflows
Continuous agentic financial oversight that tells you when something actually matters.
@kwadwoadu @alexander_sonne_wulff The other thing I've found and I've continuously heard from users is that it's not as if you're getting lengthy reports every time nume messages you (although you can ask for them if you want).
What nume has been consistently impressive at is being concise and cutting through the noise. As a busy founder, you don't just want to be presented with a random dashboard with 100 things you need to decide whether or not to enter your context window. You want someone to strip out the noise and tell you what to focus on. Nume does that job.

Nice, thanks both for taking the time to spell this out.
The split between the recurring CFO workflows and the more “only ping me when it actually matters” monitoring is exactly what I was asking about
@alexander_sonne_wulff @kwadwoadu excellent! Feel free to reach out if you have any other questions.
Congrats on the launch 👏 When it says 5 min onboarding, how does that actually look like in practice :) ?? and what data sources can you connect to Nume?
@cal_brennan1 Thanks! Onboarding is super easy. I've shared a few screenshots below.
You connect your accounting system (we currently integrate with Quickbooks, Xero, Odoo, Zoho Books and e-conomic, but many more coming!!)
You connect your bank account (we use Plaid and Atto as secure Open Banking Providers and they cover more than 12,000 banks worldwide)
Connect either Slack or email for communication (we will be releasing our own App in the next few weeks, going through Appstore review atm)
Short 7-8 question interview where you give more context on the company
That's literally it! Feedback on the onboarding experience so far has been really positive, but would love to hear how you find it and if it can be made even smoother?
Besides accounting system and bank, you can also:
Upload/bring your existing budget into Nume. Nume will be able to understand the structure, formulae, and logic behind it.
Upload any file into a chat for further analysis and context
Over the coming months, we will be significantly expanding our integrations focusing especially on invoice and spend management systems like Stripe, Ramp, Pleo, but also non-finance related systems like CRM.
Just let us know what you think would be valuable, as we will be prioritizing based on request
@cal_brennan1 @alexander_sonne_wulff I think my record is 3.5 minutes for onboarding but Alex keeps telling me it’s not a competition 🤷♂️.
In all seriousness though, it’s pretty impressive how quickly Nume gets an understanding of your business and what you need within such a short period of time. Give it a go and I’m sure you’ll understand what I’m saying.
We've been using Nume since early release (I'm the founder of an early seed start-up). Super smooth experience which gets better every day + easy to get started whilst we've been going through SOC 2.
Also, I just saw the new beta Budget feature pop up in the left-side nav - what kind of things can I do with this?
@joe_heade so pleased to hear that! It's always such a pleasure to hear from people who've been enjoying using nume.
Ah, pleased that you mentioned it. We're officially launching the Budget feature this week so you'll hear a lot more about it shortly. Right now we've released it to existing users in beta. Budget now allows you to:
Upload any budget from excel to nume (nume extracts and understands all logic) or create a new budget directly with nume (nume will analyse your actual performance and suggest how to build it).
Track all your reporting and updates against the committed budget.
Run scenarios and forecasts based on your current performance and assumptions.
Would love to hear what you think of it once you get a chance to try it out!?
maybe stupid question but what does it actually do once you connect all your stuff?
@sophus_blom_hanssen not a stupid question at all. Once you connect your accounting system and bank accounts, Nume will ask you a few qualitative questions about your business, what you’re building, what you sell, how your finance setup looks, what your goals are etc.
From there, Nume customises its agents to fit your business and industry, and builds a personalised CFO Action Plan.
These are proactive finance tasks Nume continuously runs in the background and messages you about whenever something needs attention.
Things like:
Cash flow shifts
Unusual spend
Overdue debtors / customer not paying
Runway risk
Growth trends
Nume will also deliver recurring finance workflows like:
Monthly management reporting
Actuals vs budget follow-ups
Rolling forecast updates
Updates on bank transactions (even before they have hit your accounting system)
Our experience is that most founders and CEOs don’t actually know what a great CFO should proactively help with, so we built that directly into Nume.
You can also build your own automated workflows and naturally just ask Nume to do anything you'd like (all work can be exported into formats like excel, powerpoint etc., e.g. board reporting, financial models..)
@sophus_blom_hanssen sharing an example of how a CFO support plan could look
Below you can also see what users typically use Nume for
@sophus_blom_hanssen @alexander_sonne_wulff maybe I’m a little biased given I’ve been building Nume but the things that it’s genuinely transformed for me in my work day / week are:
Checking my bank balance and whether customers have paid. I used to have to log in every day to my horrible bank UI - now I get a note through email with all my bank balances and regent transactions.
Last minute reporting. I always seem to be rushing at the last second to produce decks and summaries for the team. Now Nume just does it.
Building and tracking against our budget. Nume does this with me from start to finish in about 20mins. Far cry from the 8+ hours it used to take me every quarter. Plus scenarios / hiring decisions are soooo much easier.
Plenty of other use cases we’ve seen people leveraging but these are the things that have been a blessing for me.
Hey Product Hunt 👋
I’m Charlie, Chief Customer Officer at Nume.
I spent almost a decade working closely with founders watching great businesses struggle with financial management, it’s what drew me to this mission two years ago when Alex asked me to help build it out.
The way I see it, every founder deserves the same quality of financial insight that the best-funded companies take for granted. That’s what Nume is built to fix, connecting to your accounting system in minutes and actually doing the CFO work, not just surfacing dashboards.
Today’s a big day for us. If you try Nume and have any feedback, please do drop it in the comments or come find me here.
