What's great

I would give Merge zero stars if that were an option. I signed up as an individual developer to evaluate the service, and my account was suspended immediately before I was even able to properly log in or use the platform. I also tried with another email address and encountered the same issue. There was no clear explanation for the suspension and no practical real-time support option to resolve it. For a developer-focused service, this was an extremely frustrating onboarding experience and a complete waste of time.

What needs improvement

The signup and account-review process needs major improvement. If an account is automatically suspended, Merge should clearly explain why, provide an immediate appeal process, and offer live chat or another fast support channel. New users should not be locked out before they have even used the service without receiving a meaningful explanation. The service should also make it much clearer during signup whether individual developers are accepted or whether a company/work email is required.

I wanted to test Merge because the idea of having a unified gateway for multiple AI providers seemed convenient. I was specifically looking for an easier way to manage different models and providers through one service instead of configuring each API separately. Unfortunately, I never got the opportunity to actually evaluate the product because my account was suspended immediately after registration.

What's great

Used Merge Unified in one of my college projects and honestly it was much easier to understand and work with than I expected. The unified API approach saved us from dealing with multiple different integrations separately, which made development way cleaner and faster. The documentation was also pretty beginner-friendly, so even as students we were able to set things up without too much confusion. There are still some limitations compared to using native APIs directly, but for rapid development and learning, it felt super practical. Overall, it’s one of those developer tools that actually reduces complexity instead of adding more.

Have been using their ATS api for while now and, honestly, it allows you to make a lot less than promised and everytime you need to do something no-even-too complicated you end up needing to write custom code for each ATS. That's not something we would have expected having into account their (really) high price. And their launch of "Merge for Startup" was a big lie. We reach to them and gave us the exact same price than the normal price (we are a really small startup that meet all the requirements)

I think Merge.dev is a very promising platform for integrations. Merge is the best decision we ever made! Merge has been a game changer for our integration development. There really is nothing similar on the market. We spent months researching the perfect product to save us time on authentication flows, debugging, and unifying APIs. Merge met all of our needs and then some. Merge continues innovating in new areas and rapidly responds to our questions/requests. Their people, product, and roadmap are all amazing!
