Most of the alternatives live inside VS Code. Lightmeter is an Xcode
and SwiftUI app, so I wanted something that worked in the terminal
beside Xcode instead of asking me to move house. Claude Code also
holds a project's own rules — mine has a CLAUDE.md with versioning
and release-mode conventions, and it follows them without being
reminded. It works in long stretches too: a darkroom bug that only
reproduced on an iCloud-backed original, found, fixed, covered by
tests, with a commit message explaining the why. And it argues back
when I'm wrong, which I didn't expect.

I've used Figma for seven years. Building Lightmeter solo, it was the
only place the thing existed as a whole before it existed as code -
the film chips, the badges, the landing page, all designed properly
first and then built to match, node by node. When most tools are
racing to generate things for you, Figma still lets you decide.
