What happens to learner progress when a course auto updates? If someone is halfway through a module that just changed does Honen checkpoint them or restart them at the relevant section?
@antonio_manuel1 You can deploy a revision to only new learners or existing learners. a lot of updates will be for new learner cohorts, but sometimes updating an existing course is necessary and can effect someone’s progress if it happens mid run.
if only the content is updated and no topics or units are removed or added progress won’t be impacted even on existing learners.
How does Honen handle institutional knowledge that lives in Slack threads or recorded Zoom calls rather than formal documentation is unstructured content on the roadmap?
@carlos_leonardo1 Good question, and the short version is yes, this is squarely the kind of thing Honen is built for. The key is the knowledge base. It's the source of truth that courses are built from, and it doesn't matter whether knowledge started as a formal doc or a messy Slack thread. Anything you can get into it becomes usable course material. So a Slack export, or a Zoom recording's transcript, can be pulled in and turned into structured training the same way a polished SOP would be. Honen can bring in external systems as sources, so that institutional knowledge can flow into the knowledge base and stay current rather than living in threads nobody can find later.
Interesting. Can the learner ask the AI questions during the training process? When creating a course, can you upload older videos that may be partially outdated?

this is very interesting. i have courses on GEO and it's actually hard to update them. creating is easy but so many things change that it's hard to keep up.

@ryan_trattner already covered what Honen is. I want to talk about the thing that took the longest to get right.
The easy version of this product is a course builder. Drag in docs, generate a course, ship it. That part works and it's genuinely fast. But a course builder is still just a fancier static file. You make it once, it sits there, it goes stale.
The hard version is making the course aware of itself. Knowing when learners are stuck. Knowing when the material no longer reflects how the world actually works. Having a course update itself without having to go back in, identify, and make the changes yourself. That's what we kept pushing toward.

the parallel training idea is what makes this different from every other course builder. training your team and your AI agents from the same knowledge base so everyone stays in sync is something I haven't seen anyone else do. also the auto-update when source docs change is huge... we've had onboarding materials go stale within weeks because nobody remembers to update the training when the product changes

@odeth_negapatan1 Honen actually can create courses and knowledge off of just topics or telling it what you want. Whats cool about the knowledgebase is it hooks up via MCP to claude, chatgpt etc. so you can use those systems to write really good documentation or knowledge that can automatically be used to feed courses.
