Why We Built Folio Wallet
Everyone has at least once stored a document in their photo gallery or searched through emails to find it. There should be a better solution. So, we built a digital wallet where you can conveniently store all your documents and cards.
What Folio Wallet Does

In Folio Wallet, you can store a variety of cards and documents organized under specific categories:
Driver’s License
Passport
ID
Resident Permit
Payment Card
Gift Card
Loyalty Card
Membership Card
Medical Card
Health Insurance
Birth Certificate
Marriage Certificate
SIM Card
Password
Additionally, we offer a custom category where you can manually scan and add any document not listed above. There are no limits on the number of documents that can be uploaded, and you can easily organize them with the help of labels.

Our team dedicated a lot of effort to making our wallet truly secure. We are using advanced encryption methods, such as elliptic curve and multilayer AES 256-bit encryption, to protect each document and card. Only the owner of a Folio Wallet account has the ability to decrypt and view their information.

Can you give any insights about the validity especially for the driver's license in different countries. Is a digital copy accepted by the authorities?

The police won’t accept digital driving licenses yet, but our B2G team is working on it 😁 More agreements with the authorities >> more adoption.
This is the big idea behind Folio Wallet, by the way, so you're spot on. I hope that one day it won't be necessary to carry paper documents at all.
@crebuh@daria_ofitserova Many agencies have their own apps like California Drivers Licenses, Mobile Passport from US Govt etc which are a pain to even recall the names of each one. The idea of having all of that together in a secure way is appealing. I think getting people to accept the folio wallet is really the killer feature. As someone who lost their drivers license just before renting a car, would love to see that future!

Folio Wallet does have shared folders for storing family documents. You can allow other family members to add documents to the folder, see who has access, and revoke access if necessary. It is a truly convenient way to keep all essential documents in one place with access at any time 👌

I've always been saving my documents as a photo - honestly, not super secure. I tried out Folio Wallet - and it's pretty intuitive to set up and save all the documents. I like the giftcard expiration feature - tons of GC could go to waste each year because of this.
I assume the documents are uploaded onto the cloud and syned on all devices? I wonder if someone could force a local only mode so the file is saved locally only.
Besides keeping a record and using the documents and IDs in places where you can use electronic copies - what other use cases are there? What's your roadmap like?

Thank you for your feedback. You are absolutely right—if you register, all your documents will be backed up to the cloud and accessible from any device. However, users can always choose the guest mode, which keeps all documents on the device only. Our roadmap includes adding OCR for more document types, supporting PDF files, creating a desktop version to enhance the usability of our sharing feature, revising the timeline section, and integrating a subscription model.

We are totally free at the moment, but in the future, we will integrate a subscription model. However, we will keep the basic functionality free and use a smooth approach to promote the subscription to existing users to avoid spoiling their experience.
Product looks great. Congrats with the launch. Does photos of the documents has any legal rights? For example could I show them to police instead of the real documents?

You’re asking a great question. The validity of digital copies depends on the rules of each country. In the United States, for example, a digital copy of a driver’s license is accepted for police interactions and age verification, and it is actively used by our users. However, some states still require a physical copy. The positive news is that many countries are prioritizing the shift to digital identity, and it should become more widespread in the coming years.

Interesting idea! I see that it's currently unrelated, but just curious - does this product play into crypto at all? I'm only wondering because the term "wallet" in reference to a digital wallet has kind of been co-opted by that community. Excellent either way!!
