Hey Product Hunt! π I'm Tony, the one-person team behind Family Folder thanks for taking a look.
Quick bit of history
September 2025 my Mother was diagnosed with dementia. Overnight my family and I found ourselves swamped with documentation, coordinating medical appointments, medication schedules, doctor notes, care routines, and lots of other bits and pieces. Initially this information was all paper based and verbal. I'd call my Dad for an update, then so my would my sister, he would end up giving the same update to me, my brother, and three sisters. Then we'd end up giving the same updates to our spouses. WhatsApp felt wrong, we didn't like talking about our mother in a chat group. Google Drive wasn't built for this. The apps that existed were either too complex or treated family data as something to monetise.
As I started to get organised I realised that Family Folder could be used for all other sorts of documents and information, Passport renewal reminders, school forms, insurance documents and everything else.
So I built something for my family
Family Folder is a calm, private space where a family's documents and important information live together β accessible from any device, shared only with the people you choose.
You create folders for the parts of life that matter: Health, School, Travel, Finances, Home, Pets, Legal. You upload documents, set who in the family can see them, and everything stays organised and findable. No more "I thought you had it" or "send me that appointment letter".
A few things I really like:
π Privacy-first by design - no ads, no data selling. Ever. This matters especially for families sharing sensitive documents like medical records, passports, and financial info.
ποΈ Family-owned files β Documents belong to the family, not to any one member. If someone leaves the shared folder, the files stay.
π€ AI that earns its place β You can ask AI to analyse any document and extract key dates, deadlines, and action items. It never saves anything without your explicit approval. Your family's documents don't become training data.
π± iOS + web β Releasing very soon on iPhone and currently available in any browser. Mobile-first, because that's how families actually use it.
Where things stand
Family Folder is in early beta. Real families are using it β we've had ~50 monthly active users during peak periods, and the feedback has directly shaped every product decision. The App Store listing is live, the web app is at familyfolder.com, and I'm shipping fast as a solo founder.
This is an honest, early-stage launch. I'm not here to claim I've solved everything β I'm here because Product Hunt has the best community for getting real feedback from people who care about good products.

Quick FAQ
Where is my Is my data stored? In Europe. Family Folder is built in Ireland and hosted on EU infrastructure and is GDPR-compliant by design.
Is there an Android app? Not yet β iOS and web are the focus right now. Android is on the roadmap once the iOS app is released which will be in the coming days.
Can I share folders with people outside my family? Not in the current version. Sharing is family-only and invitation-based, which is a deliberate privacy decision. Shareable document links for external use (e.g. sending a document to a solicitor) are coming soon.
Is the AI reading all my documents automatically? No. AI analysis is strictly on-demand β you tap "Ask AI" on a specific file. Nothing is analysed without your action, and nothing is saved without your approval.
