I love the internet. In the past ~3 years, it's changed the way many people work/live (not just in technology) to provide newfound financial freedom and opportunities through on-demand workforces and collaborative consumption businesses (e.g. Uber/Lyft, Instacart, Homejoy, Airbnb, Getaround). Similarly, tech tools like Sqwiggle, Slack, Trello, etc. help enable people to work remotely where ever, whenever. It's awesome. I was immediately on board with Developer Agents when @andreasklinger and I skyped about the idea. I encounter many talented people that are looking for a new full-time or part-time role but frankly it's hard to keep track of all these individuals and the companies/people that might fit. I see a need for something like this but what inspired the idea, @andreasklinger? cc'ing @lexilewtan (from Hired), @maccaw (from Sourcing.io), and @dparrelli (from Remotely). Also, plug: http://producthunt.co/jobs ;)

hey jon (i am one of the folks behind da) thanks for sharing! looking forward to hear what the PH community has to say :) btw love what you guys do with hiremyfriend but personally i believe it's a very different usecase - i mainly build it because hmf didnt really fit for high class developers (focus, credibility, not remote focused, etc)

Happy to see it has an international focus, and it's open about any referral fees. Could become a nice revenue stream for the gatekeepers aka referrers!
Andreas Klinger
@Yvo cheers! we think small referral fees are just fair and most companies we work with have no problem with it. It's not meant to be a professional source of income but to keep the balance of work/benefit right for all parties :)

@rrhoover The inspiration are friends of mine in Bulgaria. By skills they could work for top level companies in SF (stripe level imho) but they miss the network and work for mediocre clients which found them on github or through wom. Imho world-class people should work for world-class companies, no matter where they live, no matter how weak their personal network is. Imho: All future work will be remote.

@rrhoover Btw developeragents is 1:1 what i did before personally and many people as well - recommending people. The website/newsletter just syndicates networks :)

I forgot to mention I also looove your email-first approach. That's how Product Hunt began and several other successful startups.
