I spent years in corporate jobs buried in spreadsheets, slide decks, and endless narrative reports. Doing deep, thoughtful analysis was supposed to be the core of the job. In reality, most of our energy was swallowed up by a maddening chore: keeping numbers consistent across formats.
A supplier slips a month, a forecast assumption moves, or a price changes and suddenly the actual thinking stops. You spend hours hunting down every single number across a financial model, a narrative memo, and a 40-slide deck just to update them by hand. By the time a deck reaches decision-makers, nobody can say what a number actually rests on, or if a link broke three formulas upstream. We weren't analyzing scenarios or making strategic calls we were acting as human copy-paste pipelines.
We built DeepCell to fix this at the root. Instead of fragmenting work across separate tools, a single .deepcell file holds your data models, narrative writing, and presentation slides all natively connected:
Hi everyone!
Hope you enjoy our short sitcom video!
I’m Mengqi, the builder of DeepCell.
I spent endless hours buried in spreadsheets, slide decks, and status reports from my 10 years of corporate life. Every time a forecast assumption changed, we’d spend half the day updating numbers across multiple disconnected files—hoping no formulas broke along the way.
We built DeepCell to fix this at the root. Instead of fragmenting work across separate files, a single .deepcell file holds your data models, narrative memos, and presentation slides, natively connected.
Additional to deadline survival from end user perspective, using .deepcell is also bringing benefits beyond existing office standards.
Self-Describing Numbers and Traceable Logics
In-built meaning of numbers instead of cell coordinates. Every number knows what it is, when it applies, whether it's fact or forecast, and which scenario it belongs to. People get formulas they can read; agents focus on the logic without distraction by coordinates.
Exchange Protocol of System Two Tasks
File itself can be picked up by anyone and any agent at any time. Along with editing experience and embedded version control in DeepCell Studio, .deepcell could be converted native/editable .xlsx, .docx, .pptx anytime for stakeholders who live strictly in Office. During Agent run, AI knows what you are editing and just edited then could react real-time.
We built this for finance, strategy, FP&A, product teams and anyone whose work turns raw numbers into high-stakes decisions.
Would love to hear your feedback, answer any questions, or to hear about your daily workflow pain points—what feature or integration would help DeepCell solve them best for you?
@mengqi_jin how well does deepcell handle complex client reports when an agency needs calculations and presentations at the same time?
@shivam_kushwaha16 That’s a great question! We have attached our actual work on our demo, which is a complicated valuation model of Nvidia with hundreds of related assumptions and deck details. Can feel free to have a try!
Attached is our demo: https://deepcell.net/demo?panel=spreadsheet&sheetId=summary
@xwang146 thankx Amy having a real valuation model with all the assumption and calculations makes it much easier to understand how DeepCell works in practice
@shivam_kushwaha16 No problem!! Let me know if you have any other questions when you're trying our product :)
Hope you enjoy our sitcom (the launching video)!!!
Hi everyone, I'm Amy, co-founder of DeepCell.
Having been a software engineer for years, I’ve watched so many products and features launch, grow, or quietly disappear. One important question is: What actually decides which features survive? Building DeepCell today, the answer becomes clearer than ever: every choice has to trace back to the real value it brings to the people using it.
I've watched my friends and colleagues spend hours on the same job: moving numbers and words between spreadsheets, documents, and slides. Technology has come a very long way, and now there are LLMs to help, yet people are still fighting their files all day. Why?
Because office files were built for human eyes. A spreadsheet, a document, a slide: each is a two-dimensional page, made for a person to look at, understand, and then act on. The links that really matter are scatted and often only live in people’s head. So when you hand these files to an AI, it has to do what a person does: read the screen, guess the connections, and hope it guessed right.
After a lot of digging and trying, we concluded that relying on the old file formats wouldn't help solve the real problem. We had to start from scratch, with a new file format .deepcell and a new protocol that record the logic first underneath the number and words. With that an LLM doesn't have to guess. It can follow it.
That's why DeepCell isn't another AI layer on top of office files. Everything good you'll find in it comes from that one choice underneath. Change a number once, and the spreadsheet, report, slides, and cheat sheet all follow. You can use in our website or install it in the AI agent you already work with. If you need Excel, Word, or PowerPoint format, export to them anytime.
Give it a try, and tell us what you think, about the product or about the story. We'd love to grow DeepCell with you.
Hope you enjoy our sitcom (launching video) !!
Hi all, this is Jack. As the product co-founder, I want to share some stories from the perspective of an ex deadline victim. I used to be the one suffering a lot from deadlines in the funny launching video without DeepCell.
During my four years in PwC, I always got exhausted by endless deadlines with ad-hoc requirements. For example, I was required to make a valuation model and draft investment memo (both in ppt/doc) within few hours to present on the partner meeting next day. So I always worked overtime and went back home at around 1 am.
That experience fuels my motivation when building DeepCell. Mengqi and Amy have similar experiences as well, so we came to the common mission of DeepCell:
That's why our product really focus on features below to help users feel easier under deadline:
Starting from our existing work (such as last monthly report, others' model in reference), not from the scratch
A handy explanation (we call it "cheatsheet") to remind us of the sources and the thinking, also helping us to understand our deliverables in general.
One-click update for related content across deliverables and files, not necessary to update numbers or narrations one by one, or no need to worry about missing any update.
Hope everyone in Product Hunt can enjoy our funny launching video and share with anyone if you think our product can help them go home on time.
Would love to hear more feedbacks!
A number carrying its scenario and fact or forecast status is the part I like here. It makes the question “which version is this?” something the file could answer.
@oleksii_sekundant Yes! We actually apply the version control and git features in the file management. Based on this, we develop a new document format (.deepcell) to deal with system two problems^^Thank you!
Congrats on the launch! Linking spreadsheets, docs, and slides in one file is a problem a lot of us feel every week.
@jason_jiang333 Indeed, those problems really make us suffer as in our launching video without deepcell><
