I started with Cursor and it was great early on, but as I gained more experience with AI-assisted development, the cracks showed. The recurring command window stall bug became frustrating, and the shifting pricing model—unlimited, then limited, then adjusted again—eroded trust. I want transparency and predictability in usage and cost. I need clear visibility into tokens or message limits so I know when I’m close to hitting a wall. Paying for unused capacity makes no sense. Lately, I’ve found the pay-per-token model in some open-source VS Code extensions to be a far better fit.

The best AI IDE I've ever tried. Cursor improved my development speed by 10x while maintaining excellent code quality. What really stands out is how it eliminates the constant back-and-forth with web-based AI apps. Everything happens directly in your editor, no more copying code snippets between browser tabs and your IDE. The AI generates high-quality, contextual code instantly without breaking your flow. The agentic features with terminal integration are incredible. Cursor can execute commands, manage dependencies, and handle deployment tasks autonomously. It's like having an AI developer pair who can actually interact with your entire development environment. I can't imagine what this will feel like with even better LLMs. We're probably looking at building production-ready, scalable apps in just a couple of weeks. The potential is mind-blowing.

A CTO friend of mine introduced me to this back in March, and I haven't put it down since. It (and others like it, I know, Lovable, etc.) is one of those products that, you see the value almost immediately. I'm building an entire business for far less and in a much faster timeframe because this software exists. I have had some qualms with it, but honestly the team iterates on the software so quickly that most of my issues with it have been greatly reduced over the last 3-4 months. I'd love it if they could figure out how to make one project's agent speak to/ work with another project's agent. That would unlock so much more potential.

Cursor AI is a pretty darn impressive code editor that's built on top of VSCode. The fact that it's a fork of VSCode gives it some serious superpowers when it comes to AI-assisted coding. The deep integration and control over low-level details allow Cursor to do things that regular VSCode extensions just can't match . One of the standout features is the Ctrl+K (or Cmd+K on Mac) shortcut. It lets you edit code in place, understands the context of your file, and shows a handy diff view of the suggested changes. It's way more seamless than switching to a separate chat window . Cursor also plays nice with a bunch of AI models like GPT-4, Claude, and custom ones. You can even plug in your own API keys. Switching between models is a breeze with Ctrl+/ . The Copilot++ autocomplete is pretty smart too. It looks at your recent changes and surrounding code to give more accurate suggestions, can fix syntax errors, and even predict where you might want to edit next . Now, while Cursor is built on VSCode, that's also kind of its Achilles' heel. For certain programming languages, there are IDEs that are just way better suited. Like if you're doing Java development, something like JetBrains IntelliJ IDEA is going to be a better fit . But overall, Cursor is a solid 4 out of 5 stars in my book. The UI/UX is clean and the AI integration is top-notch . It's a great tool to have in your coding toolkit, especially if you're already a VSCode fan. Just keep in mind that for some specific language needs, a more specialized IDE might serve you better.

Cursor has absolutely changed the way I develop software. To be able to go from idea to running an application in hours or minutes is a game changer. Being able to integrate with several different models makes it easy to experiment. I do wish that they didn't force you to use their Pro service for the Composer experience, since it doesn't come with the same data governance guarantees as going direct to the model provider. But it's so good I can hardly complain...

The fact that I can add an image of my design, and Cursor is actually capable of building that design in just a few seconds, blows me away. There are a few tricks you need to know to collaborate effectively with Cursor (like reseting the context from time to time), but it's absolutely worth it. I love using it to build my personal project, shipping features that used to take hours in just 15 minutes!

Cursor is the first AI-integrated IDE I've used beyond AI auto-complete. Having the LLM chat agent embedded in the IDE is saving me a lot of time. I find it particularly helpful for providing a skeleton of code to edit or for diagnosing source of errors. It's also very helpful for explaining pre-existing code in languages or codebases you are less familiar with

I've switched full-time from VSCode to Cursor for development. The LLM-powered completions are the best out there (and I've tried a lot of them!), and their UX doesn't break my coding flow. Only hiccup has been the extensions installation flow isn't as smooth, but that's to be expected by any VSCode fork.

+5 stars: I am the first batch of early adopters to use cursor. I can see many great breakthrough in terms of UX. In the early days, there was no agent, just apply change. I become 5x more productive writing code in one file just list the method names. Then there was a major update that many actions introduced and really confusing. But the team rapidly unified the UX by introducing the all-in-one agent concept. I become 2x more productive by just writing the readme of a root folder. I would say It is a life saver and door opener for me. -1 star: I spend more time on cursor (enjoying making things) and additive to these productivity boosting. It has been charging more and more, not good for me as an AI-addictive.
