Thank you to all that have commented so far. As you may be aware, this is an open-source project and while we aim to build something truly special and unique, at the time of posting CodeEdit not quite ready for production use. We do have big plans for CodeEdit and are eagerly looking forward to a 1.0 release. The more community involvement the faster we can get there! This project will undoubtedly see success, so the question is not if, it's when. That said, we hope that you all share this project so we can turn up the heat on it's development. Along with seeking additional code contributors, we are also seeking sponsorship, if any of you are able to, we'd greatly appreciate your support in whichever way you can. Head over to our website, or GitHub to learn more and your continued support means so much to me and all other community members rallying behind this project! If you have any further questions, feel free to comment below and I or other project maintainers will try to address each of them. Now, let's unite our efforts and channel our passion into action—let's build something truly incredible that redefines what's possible for the development community!

Hey! Love your launch on PH today 🔥 I sent it to my team as well and we gave you a dozen votes and a few comments to CodeEdit❤️ By the way, I launched my maintenance management SaaS (WorkTrek). Support me then?

The proposition seems interesting. Many questions come to mind: - Why open source? - How did it began? - Unapologetically for Mac and Free are good diferentiators. But still there are many code editors. What makes you different? or what is your positioning in relation to others?
Austin Condiff
@narcismirandes > Why open source? Because we want to maximize rate of adoption. If we see a need for further support of the project, we may launch premium extensions, but that is a definite maybe. > How did it begin? See this article: https://www.codeedit.app/blog/20... > What makes you different? or what is your positioning in relation to others? Other than native UI and increased performance, we have a few ideas in the works that we are not quite ready to share here. Ultimately we aim to create an editor that not only feels native, but helps users to feel more connected to the code they are writing while making their workflow as seamless as efficient as possible. Stay tuned.

Love this insight from the blog post on your website about why you're building CodeEdit > Most code editors today are built on cross-platform frameworks and technologies that often fall short in fully leveraging the capabilities of macOS and taking full advantage of system resources. Re: the story of how you started, > I began by customizing VS Code, trying to give it a macOS-native feel. This involved writing custom CSS and applying it to VS Code after each update. However, this was far from a perfect solution and by no means scalable. What are some of the most important distinctions to you of a macOS-native feel? Performance, of course, is huge. Are there other capabilities of macOS that you are taking advantage of or plan to in the future?
Austin Condiff
@stash_new Thanks for commenting and I am glad to hear you are liking what you see. You are correct in saying that performance will be a focus and clear differentiator. In addition to that, it is all build in Swift/SwiftUI, so the UI is completely native to macOS. We have plans to have a tighter integration with macOS with things like Spotlight and Finder, even down to the new cursor style that was introduced in Sonoma. We are playing around with a few other ideas around how we sync settings and may utilize iCloud for that if we can. Stay tuned and you will learn more as we progress further.

@austin_condiff Sounds awesome, will definitely stay tuned. I love the attention to detail - these small pieces add up and make for an amazing user experience 🙌🏻

Hey CodeEdit team, just caught wind of your creation and I'm intrigued! How do you ensure CodeEdit stands out in the crowded sea of code editors, especially for those of us who code more by moonlight than daylight? Eager to see if it's the night owl's coding companion I've been dreaming of!
