Hi ProductHunt,
I am Tanya! I have been building ClueDay.com for the past three months and I'm excited to share it with folks here. ClueDay is a clue-based daily word game. Everyday you get 5 clues to guess the mystery word of the day.
A few features a very involved community of people playing it enjoys -
📚 Extensive archive of previous puzzles.
🤖 A behind-the-scenes blog where I share how I'm building ClueDay using AI and other vibe-coding tools.
🦎 Clue-E, our mascot: opinions are divided between whether it's a gremlin or a chameleon.
✍️ Submit a Word: where anyone can contribute a mystery word along with its five clues for future puzzles.
I grew up in a family obsessed with playing Scrabble, doing word puzzles and crosswords in the newspaper. This game started as an extension of the family tradition. It's growing into something bigger thanks to an amazing community, and I'm excited to keep building it.
Always up for hearing feedback, feature requests and more - so definitely let me know what y'all think. Look forward to seeing you on the Leaderboard!

How do you decide which words make the cut for the daily puzzle, and is there a way to suggest custom word lists for a future paid version?

@cemalp7cr If I'm walking around and see a 6-letter word that inspires ideas for clues that makes the cut (so very much based on whimsy) But I also have a pre-generated list of 6-letter words for the entire year for those days that I don't have such word ideas.
Custom word lists is definitely a thought! I've also been playing around with the idea to have themed weeks where all the words that week will cater to that theme. Also as of now anybody can submit a word and 5 clues as well, and those community submissions also make it as the word of the day.
Is there a reason you're thinking of custom word lists?

6 layers of the brain activated thinking of 6 letter words! Amazing concept. curious to know how ‘difficulty’ of the clues and its ordering are set up when they are revealed!

@prakriti_pritmaniInteresting thought! So usually when I design the difficulty its based off of my general knowledge (or lack thereof), rabbit holes of ideas through scrolling the interest, and even looking at historic cryptic crosswords.
I only develop the true understanding of the difficulty when I see the clue distribution of people's solves in the leaderboard and see how many clues it took on average to solve!

This is such a fun concept! Curious, what has been the most unexpectedly difficult word for players to guess so far?

@priyadarshini_kulkarni What a great question! There was a word and clues submitted by community member Liz
https://clueday.com/play?case=87 which saw the least percentage of people crack the word of the day. To get started for anyone interested - Clue 1: "Sophy Henn superhero"

Really enjoy this game! It makes me feel like I'm solving an escape room and a wordle at the same time. The time tiebreaker for the scoreboard adds extra pressure and makes it that much more fun!

@siddharth_brahmbhatt Thank you! Appreciate the positive support, thanks for playing regularly. If you haven't checked it out in the past couple days I've added a new feature called Debriefs, which are explainer videos for the clues of the day. Let me know if you have feedback on those as well :D

This game is so much fun! I always struggle with Wordle type games, but the clues get me thinking. I know I’ll get better with time (I think)

@sebastian_spitz I'm glad the clues help in getting the creative thinking going! One thing to experiment would be to go to Settings and move the Hard toggle so that all position hints are gone and every letter that's in the word shows up blue. Could help make it less confusing, but could also make it harder so just an idea I want to drop here :D

@pearl_pullan I'm glad you have enjoyed it! There is also a feature for Community Submissions. Whenever you feel like you have ideas for a word and clues for the day, just go for it and submit yours because I know they will be as sharp, if not sharper!
