What do you think? …

This is useful, but we'll never need it because we never go down or anything. ;)

@rrhoover if you do find yourselves using Cachet, I'd love to hear from you!
Matt Lanham
Looks really nice! Does it detect issues, or is it purely for communicating known issues?
James Brooks
@mattlanham it's purely for communicating... at the moment. We have plans to add adapters for third-party services. We do however, have an API that allows other services to notify us.
James Brooks
Hey! I'm James, the maker of Cachet - thanks for the post! If you have any questions, please let me know :)
Jack Smith
looks cool. how's it compare to statuspage.io ?
James Brooks
@_jacksmith we're lacking some features at the moment, but Cachet is still a work in progress. For example, we don't have: - Third party components - Metrics (at least, it's semi-implemented) - Twitter integration - Scheduled maintenance But we're getting there, check out the GitHub project; https://github.com/cachethq/Cachet for more info.

I thought the primary value of statuspage.io was to have a 3rd party system monitoring / reporting server issues. Where do you install this code? If your system goes down, wouldn't this go down with it?
James Brooks
@tysonquick correct and we're working on implementing that into Cachet too. I'd advise you run this on a separate server. We offer one-click deploy to Heroku too (check the Readme file on GitHub)
