Sick of coupon extensions acting like spyware? I built Bunney as a privacy-first alternative. No ads, no tracking, no affiliate junk. Just a Next.js 16 app powered by scrapers running on my home lab. 100% free, 100% neo brutalist, 100% kawaii vibes. No business model, just a side project to fix online shopping. 🥕

Hey Bunnies!
I'm Patrick, the maker of Bunney. 🐰
Ever since I saw the video of MegaLag exposing Honey's shady business models, I thought to myself: "I could build this in a weekend" (I fooled myself).
Well.. a year later, everything is finally ready.
⚡ The Tech Stack:
The frontend is a simple Next.js app hosted on Vercel. For the backend I am using Firebase Cloud Functions (generous free tier) combined with a PostgreSQL database. The coupon codes are being scraped by a custom Python script build on top of Scrapy running on my home server.
⚠️ Since the DB is also hosted on my home server (literally in my living room), please forgive a little latency :)
🔒 Privacy First:
No ads. No tracking. No selling user data. I only use PostHog to track basic site usage to improve the UX. That's it.
🥕 Why did I build this?
Because why not? I wanted to build a tool that people actually enjoy using. I designed the whole architecture to be as cost-effective as possible (except for maybe using Vercel.. lol), so I hope I won't have to spend much $$$ to keep this project alive.
I'd love to hear your feedback on the Brutalist design! Is it too aggressive or a breath of fresh air?
