Keep your agents and builds running on a Mac mini or Studio. Beam brings their Terminal, browser and other app windows onto the Mac in front of you, each as its own window with a Dock icon and ⌘Tab presence. Encrypted between your Macs. Free to try.

Hey Product Hunt, Hiten here.
My setup has gotten a little weird. I've got Macs running agents and local models, with work continuing even when nobody's sitting in front of them.
Sometimes I just want to check a Terminal, open a browser, or use an app on one of those machines. Getting there usually means opening Screen Sharing and navigating a whole second desktop.
Sam and I have been working on Beam to make this easier.
With Beam, you pick a window on another Mac and it opens alongside the apps on the Mac you're using. It gets its own Dock icon and a place in ⌘Tab. You can type into it and resize it like a normal window. You can also move files between Macs and hear the app's audio. The app itself keeps running on its original machine.
When one window isn't enough, Beam lets you open an entire screen or the whole Mac.
I'm especially excited about using Beam with headless Mac minis and Studios. They can keep running agents and other work while I use their apps from whichever Mac I'm sitting in front of.
Beam works on Apple silicon Macs running Sonoma or later. You can connect over your local network or through Tailscale, with encrypted connections directly between Macs.
It's available now and free to try for 20 minutes every day. Download it at Beam.win.
A few weeks ago I asked people on X to show me their weird multi-Mac setups. The thread got over 100 replies, and I've loved seeing what everyone has built.
One thing I've become fascinated by is the Mac nobody sits in front of.
If you have one, what do you still need to open Screen Sharing for?
It seems good but I have a few questions that i could find answers, for example will it keep running if one of the the mac sleeps or have its internet disconnected and will it automatically resume from where the same state it got disconnected @hnshah?
@hnshah @sidraarifali Great questions! Yes on both. While you’re viewing a window, Beam keeps the other Mac awake, so it won’t drift off to sleep mid-session. And if the connection drops, say your Wi-Fi blips or a Mac wakes up or changes networks, Beam reconnects on its own and your windows come back right where they were. The apps themselves keep running on the other Mac the whole time, so nothing is lost.
Would be cool to see with the growing capabilities of iphones whether you can make it work to control your mac via the phone.
Maybe ios is quite limiting but often times I need to use my mac for something but can only carry my phone because I’m traveling. All other solutions are pretty bad at the moment.
@vladislav_milkov1 Great news: it already works! Make a share link in Beam and open it on your phone, by tapping the link or scanning the QR code, over Wi-Fi or Tailscale. You can view and control your Mac right in the browser, with full touch support. A bonus of sharing a single window is that it resizes to fit your phone’s screen natively, so responsive apps feel right at home. And native iOS and Android apps are on the way soon too 📱
@samasante sheesh got it will try it out soon!
This seems quite convenient. I have one question though: when someone shares their screen and we take control, there's a bit of lag when interacting with their screen. Will that lag still exist when we try screen sharing through Beam?
@rishabhnasa Thanks Rishabh! Speed was a huge focus for us, and honestly, we think it’s the smoothest screen sharing experience available today. Beam connects your Macs directly, uses Apple silicon’s built-in video hardware, and streams at your display’s exact resolution, up to 120 fps. It’s smooth enough for videos and even games, and the app’s sound comes too. You can tune it all in Settings. Give it a try and let me know how it feels!
What distinguishes Beam from screen sharing or Remote Desktop? Is it streaming individual windows rather than the whole desktop?
Btw, Congratulations @hnshah and @samasante 🎊🚀
@hnshah @aymi_malik Thanks! It actually does a great job at both. Beam can bring over individual windows as real windows on your Mac, each with its own Dock icon and spot in ⌘Tab, and resizing one here resizes the real window over there. Or share the whole Mac, at your display’s exact resolution with native shortcuts and all your Spaces. Either way, it’s the sharpest and smoothest screen sharing app I've ever used ⚡
TIL there's a .win TLD!
@rrhoover Haha, as soon as we saw beam.win it just felt right 😄
Congrats @hnshah and @samasante. A single window with its own Dock icon and ⌘Tab spot is the right unit; a whole second desktop was always too much just to glance at a terminal. To your question: for me it's the browser an agent left open mid-task. That's the one I still open Screen Sharing for.
