Claude Haiku 4.5 sits behind our ElevenLabs agent and handles the conversation logic. Voice transcript in, decide whether to call getDigest, find, or one of the propose tools, return a short spoken answer. Speed mattered more than deep reasoning at this layer, and the function-calling format stays stable across turns, which kept our system prompt simple. The model choice lives on the ElevenLabs dashboard, so we can swap to Claude or another option any time without a code change.

Claude has usually been a joy to code with, but recently I’ve been avoiding it because the output has been too verbose. For example, I might ask for a single function definition, and it ends up refactoring the whole codebase. Does this new model address that issue, or is there a way to get more targeted output?
